Last month was action-packed for Tourism Richmond’s Business Development team, featuring a series of client engagement initiatives that showcased Richmond’s hospitality and meeting offerings to planners across Canada.

Richmond FAM Tour – September 14–17

Tourism Richmond hosted eight meeting planners from across Canada for a four-day Familiarization (FAM) Tour, designed to highlight Richmond as a premier business events destination. Participants experienced Richmond’s unique mix of culture, cuisine, and venues — from Richmond Hotel Destination Association partner hotels and the Richmond Night Market to local landmarks including the Richmond Olympic Oval, British Columbia Institute of Technology Aerospace Campus, John M.S. Lecky UBC Boathouse, Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site, and the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site. The tour offered planners a firsthand look at Richmond’s capacity to host memorable, well-connected events.

Dumpling-Making Event – September 25

To wrap up September, the Business Development team and RHDA hosted a Dumpling-Making Event at Little Karp Seafood & Bar, engaging 18 clients. The event promoted Richmond’s signature Dumpling Trail while creating space for authentic connections between hotel sales representatives and their clients. Guests learned how to make dumplings under the guidance of the chef, who prepared ingredients in advance and cooked each creation on the spot — a fun, interactive way to highlight Richmond’s culinary culture.

Bryan Adams Client Event – October 4

In early October, Team Richmond took the excitement on the road to Toronto, hosting a client event at the Bryan Adams concert at Scotiabank Arena. Together with the Richmond Hotel Destination Association, the team created an unforgettable evening of music and connection — singing along to classics like Run to You, Heaven, and Summer of ’69 while sharing the Richmond story with key industry clients.
