With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it’s time to start planning some Cupid-approved treats and activities for your sweetheart. From delicious dining to perfect pressies to unique experiences, Richmond has a full menu of creative ways to show just how much you care. Read on for our heartfelt array of local recommendations.
DINING DELIGHTS
There’s an amorous assortment of Richmond restaurants offering Valentine’s dining packages this year—starting with the three-course feast available at 75 West Coast Grill. Running on February 13 and 14 and priced at $60 per person, main course options include seafood linguine and beef short rib while dessert is a luscious chocolate fondue.
Nearby, Harold’s Kitchen & Bar is also joining the taste-tripping love-fest, with a February 14 offering that includes live music and a glass of complimentary sparkling wine. Their three-course set menu option ($65) comes with beef tenderloin and an enticing chocolate hazelnut mousse dessert.
Alternatively, CAVU Kitchen Bar is offering special brunch ($25) and dinner ($75) options on February 14. Their three-course dinner includes porchetta, risotto or sole choices. And as with each of our Valentine’s restaurant recommendations, you should book ahead to ensure your table.
That’s especially true at London Farm, which is offering a charming Valentine’s Day High Tea on February 14. Hosted in the dining room of the Victorian-era farmhouse, you’ll enjoy sweet and savoury treats plus London Lady Tea. Three sittings are available ($36 to $38 per person) and the event is likely to sell out.

ROMANTIC STAYCATIONS
After dinner, why not sweep your beau off their feet with an indulgent city sleepover? This year, 19 Richmond hotels––from Versante Hotel to the Fairmont Vancouver Airport and from River Rock Resort Hotel to Accent Inns Vancouver Airport––are participating in a special promotion that runs until April 13 (your stay must be completed by April 19).
Book your mini vacation with any of the hotels via the link above and you’ll receive up to $225 in VISA gift cards. It’s the perfect way to treat your partner to a pampering sleepover at the same time as stretching your budget––and you can buy an extra gift or two for your significant other with the money you save!

SWEET TREATS
If chocolate is one of the gifts you have in mind, Steveston’s Sinfully the Best boutique is brimming with delicious options. You’ll find everything here from colourful chocolate shoes to large chocolate hearts with candies inside. We love their little ribbon-tied packages with treats shaped like lips, flowers and teddy bears as well as the boxes of foil-wrapped solid chocolate hearts (milk and dark options available). This year, the store will also be offering chocolate-dipped fresh strawberries.

Alternatively, why not spoil your partner with a delicious bottle or two of locally made wine? You’ll find plenty of options at Lulu Island Winery where their specialty––silky-smooth icewine––comes in several tempting varieties. Personally, we also love their light and fruity viognier but we recommend dropping by the winery for a tasting to find your own ideal match.

PERFECT PRESENTS
Looking for more gift ideas? Explore the brilliant boutiques on and around Moncton Street in Steveston. You’ll find lots of loved-up options at A Monkey Tree, where we recently spotted flirty socks, heart-patterned mugs and a great selection of B.C.-made Rogers’ Chocolates—heart-shaped Victoria creams included. They also have an excellent selection of Valentine’s cards at the back of the store.

But if jewellery is on your mind this time around, head to nearby Juvelisto Design. This Steveston hotspot is home to a unique array of crafted rings, pendants and more. Give yourself plenty of time to peruse––and perhaps consider booking a workshop where participants can make their own rings, earrings, bangles and more.

ADORABLE EXPERIENCES
Sharing quality time together is perhaps the best Valentine’s gift of all. Looking for local ideas? Consider the lip-smacking ValenWines event at Country Vines Winery. Running on February 6, 7 and 8 and February 13, 14 and 15, you’ll be treated to five wine samples paired with tasty chocolates (you can also add a charcuterie box). Prices start at $30 per couple and you can book via this link.

Craving something different? Richmond Curling Centre is also hosting a unique, flirt-worthy Valentine’s Date Night on February 14 where you and your broom beau can learn all about Canada’s other great game. Tickets are just $20, with instruction and equipment provided––beer and pizza specials are also available on the big night.

Alternatively, why not get creative together? On Saturdays, Sundays and some Fridays in February, Lavenderland is hosting fragrant soy candle-making workshops ($58 per person) where you can both learn how to make candles as well as scented wax tablets that incorporate dried flowers. It’s the perfect way to slow down, enjoy each other’s company and fully celebrate spending time with your sweetheart.
