Spotlight Questions:

1. If you were giving a tour of Richmond, what’s the first place you’d take someone and why?

Richmond is famous for its authentic Asian cuisine, so I would definitely take someone to the “Food Street” — Alexandra Road. The concentration of restaurants there offering everything from Cantonese and Japanese to Thai and Korean food, with some even offering a blend of various Asian flavours. This area is known for its vibrant atmosphere, especially at night.

2. What is your favourite local spot in Richmond and why?

Richmond Country Farms is my favourite local spot in Richmond. It hosts two wonderful festivals each year: the Sunflower Festival and the Pumpkin Patch. With 20 acres of farmland filled with vibrant sunflowers or pumpkins, the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. I love wandering around, enjoying the charming farm animals and the picturesque duck pond.

The farm also features a fantastic market with a wide variety of agricultural products grown right here in British Columbia. Everything is so fresh and sweet. One of the highlights for me is the hand-crafted, award-winning wines. There’s nothing quite like sipping on a glass of wine while being surrounded by nature — it’s such a refreshing and peaceful experience.

3. What is a skill you have learned at work that unexpectedly became useful in your personal life?

Working at Tourism Richmond has enhanced my destination knowledge. I have a deep understanding of Richmond’s attractions, accommodations, culture, and unique selling points. As a result, I’m able to recommend tailored experiences based on client needs.
Being a resident of Richmond, having firsthand information about all the festivals and activities, and knowing the hidden gems and great restaurants makes my personal life much more interesting. I’ve become an ambassador for Richmond among my churchmates and friends from across Canada and Hong Kong.

4. What is your favourite way to unwind after a busy week at work?

Having a delicious meal with my family and going for a walk in the park help me relax after a busy week at work.

5. What is your secret talent that no one at work knows about?

I love jazz dancing, and I have performed in shopping malls and on TV shows. I was so nervous but also excited to stand beside a singer, knowing that everyone could see me on TV!

6. If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and what is the first thing you would do there?

I would like to go to Italy. It has a rich history, diverse landscapes, world-renowned art and architecture, delicious cuisine, and vibrant culture. From the ancient ruins of Rome to the Renaissance art of Florence and the canals of Venice, Italy offers a wealth of historical and cultural experiences.

Beyond the historical and cultural sites, Italy also boasts stunning natural beauty, including the Italian Alps, picturesque lakes, and a long coastline. The first thing I’d do is take a gondola ride in Venice — it’s a relaxing way to enjoy the atmosphere and the beauty of the city.
