Winter In The Village is back for 2025! 

Winter In The Village is a program of events that occurs every November and December in Steveston, focusing on festive celebrations. It unifies a collection of events under one promotional banner, allowing residents to engage more deeply with the events in their area, whilst offering a wide range of exciting experiences to attract visitors from further afield. 

It is a key initiative that Tourism Richmond and community partners deliver each year to encourage locals and visitors to experience the vibrancy of the village during the Winter months.

Events

Events include the turning on of the festive lights, horse drawn carriage rides, Santa arriving by boat, The Festival of Trees at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery, and dog photos with Santa. Tourism Richmond also organizes a festive drink promotion called Steveston Sips, which sees coffee shops, restaurants, bars and other drink-serving businesses create signature festive beverages.  

Promotion

Tourism Richmond promote Winter In The Village on social channels and in local print media, with all event information hosted at winterinthevillage.com. Physical signage is also installed throughout the village with lamppost banners and information kiosks.

Winter In The Village Partner Hub

New for this year, we have created a Winter In The Village Partner Hub to support Steveston businesses, organizations and societies in organizing their events and encourage further business participation. The Partner Hub provides information on how to join existing events, in addition to accessing event management support and grant funding for setting up new ones. There is also information on how businesses can sponsor signature Winter In The Village Experiences.
