Tourism Richmond was pleased to host media guests for the Steveston Spot Prawn & Seafood Celebration media event it was an afternoon an afternoon dedicated to highlighting the stories, flavours and people behind Richmond’s seafood industry. 

The experience began with a guided walking tour through Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site and Steveston Fisherman’s Wharf, where guests learned about Steveston’s history as Canada’s largest fishing port and its deep connection to the local fishing community.

Media attendees then had the opportunity to meet local fisherman Reid, who shared insights into his experience working on the Steveston float, the importance of seafood preservation and the process behind bringing live spot prawns from the water to consumers.

The celebration continued with curated tastings at Steveston Seafood House, CHJ Bistro and Catch Kitchen & Bar, where guests sampled a variety of spot prawn feature dishes that showcased the diversity and creativity of Richmond’s culinary scene. Throughout the afternoon, media had the chance to connect with local partners, experience the energy of Steveston during spot prawn season and enjoy firsthand the quality and freshness that make the region’s seafood offerings so special.
