As international travel continues to pick up pace, our Travel Trade team has been actively engaging partners across key global markets. Recent sales missions, roadshows, and FAM tours have helped deepen relationships and spark new opportunities to feature Richmond in future travel programs.

Destination Canada Sales Mission – Japan, South Korea and China 

In early September, Ceri Chong, VP of Destination & Community, joined Destination Canada’s Sales Mission to Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, and Beijing. The mission brought together leading tour operators and travel professionals, offering a valuable platform to highlight Richmond’s vibrant community, distinctive attractions, and world-class hotels.

Ceri saw growing interest in incorporating Richmond into future itineraries, along with opportunities to reconnect with long-time partners and build new relationships. Thank you to Destination Canada for leading this impactful mission.

EVA Airways Alberta Road Show 

In early October, Tourism Richmond joined EVA Airways Corp. for their travel trade roadshow in Edmonton and Calgary. 

Mandy Wilcox-Ko and Ceri Chong showcased Richmond as an ideal layover destination before or after Asia travel, supported by our proximity to YVR and our rich culinary and cultural offerings. The event also featured partners from the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Korea Tourism Organization, creating an collaborative atmosphere. 

Both Alberta events generated strong interest from tour operators and agents eager to include Richmond in their itineraries. Thank you to EVA Airways for including us in this successful roadshow.

Destination BC Accelerator Program – Pre-FAM 

During the week of October 17, Tourism Richmond welcomed agents from China, Mexico, Germany, and Australia as part of Destination BC’s Accelerator Program Pre-FAM.

The group explored some of Richmond’s top experiences, including The Westin Wall Centre Vancouver Airport, Richmond Olympic Experience, Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site, Blue Canoe Waterfront Restaurant, Britannia Shipyards Historic Site, Lulu Island Winery, and Kirin Restaurant. Thank you to our partners for supporting this immersive experience.

Destination Canada & Destination BC – South Korea FAM 

On October 30, Tourism Richmond partnered with Destination Canada and Destination BC to host a FAM tour for South Korean travel agents.

The FAM itinerary highlighted Richmond’s unique mix of heritage and hospitality, featuring visits to The Sheraton Vancouver Airport, Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site, Blue Canoe Waterfront Restaurant, Britannia Shipyards Historic Site, McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Vancouver Airport, and Kirin Restaurant. We appreciate the collaboration that made this FAM a success.

From City Lights to Northern Lights” Partnership with Northwest Territories Tourism and Air North

On November 7, Tourism Richmond partnered with Northwest Territories Tourism to promote Richmond as a pre- and post-stay destination for travellers heading to Yellowknife to experience the Northern Lights. With Air North’s new direct YVR–Yellowknife flight, the initiative included a B2B event that brought together 56 partners and influencers for destination updates and networking, along with a public contest supported by McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Vancouver Airport offering a chance to win a Northern Lights getaway. Thank you to Northwest Territories Tourism, Air North, and McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Vancouver Airport for their partnership.
