Marketing

The Marketing team has a diverse range of responsibilities including development of strategies, promotions, advertising concepts, collateral design and social media management. We create and implement multi-media marketing campaigns that develop and grow the profile and brand of Richmond, BC, Canada as a destination for visitors. We work closely with other departments to ensure integration and maximization of our combined efforts.

Patrick Gill, Director of Marketing
The Director of Marketing is responsible for the development and execution of Tourism Richmond’s marketing plan, and the continued implementation of the destination brand—Pacific. Authentic. Richmond BC.

Favourite place in Richmond: Terra Nova Rural Park (and the adjacent West Dyke Trail)
I love the outdoors, and Terra Nova Rural Park is a truly unique place for my family to get outside and play—from the beautiful scenery to the tree house and zipline, it’s one of my kid’s favourite parks. With the West Dyke Trail right beside it, we can enjoy a walk or bike ride along the dyke and take in fabulous views of the ocean, mountains, and river, and spot a wide range of wildlife.  
 

Crystal Solberg, Manager, Digital and Content Marketing​
The Manager, Digital and Content Marketing​ is responsible for digital content management and community social media management. The Manager, Digital and Content Marketing manages the organization's website, maintains the content calendar, produces new content, and implements strategies and tactics that grow Tourism Richmond’s followers, engage them, and help convert them into customers, active fans, and promoters of the destination.

Favourite place in Richmond: Garry Point Park & Iona Beach Regional Park
I absolutely love getting outside and Richmond has some fantastic natural areas to discover! Visiting Richmond's parks is a great way to unwind, and I always bring my camera along to capture the beautiful scenery I find when I explore.

Neha Dewan, Manager, Brand and Marketing​
The Manager, Brand and Marketing​ is responsible for the campaign materials required to ensure the successful delivery of marketing programs. Working with the Director of Marketing to plan initiatives, the Manager, Brand and Marketing is key to the development and production of digital and traditional advertising, promotions, translations, e-newsletters, and print collateral. 

Favourite place in Richmond: Fairmont Vancouver Airport
When I first arrived in Richmond, I stayed at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport. It was a wonderful experience of luxury and comfort, and the airport itself has so much to offer. And I love seeing the aircraft land, they represent a new beginning to me. Coming back to the airport makes me feel connected to my friends and family around the world.

Lesley Chang, Communications Manager
The Communications Manager is responsible for executing the strategic destination media relations plans to promote Richmond as an exciting leisure and business travel destination. The Manager plays an integral role in maximizing awareness of Richmond as a growing tourism destination through earned media coverage, and by serving as an information source and support to media in key markets.

Favourite place in Richmond: Richmond Cultural Centre
The Richmond Cultural Centre has always been one of my favourite places in Richmond because of the sheer variety of activities available. From being able to watch swim competitions, ice hockey games and other sporting events, to learning about the history of Richmond at the City Archives, there's something for everyone at every age.

David Wright, Manager, Digital Insights & Intelligence

The Manager, Digital Insights & Intelligence is responsible for the strategic direction and operational management of Tourism Richmond’s data-driven capabilities, and ensuring we're on the path to becoming a data-driven destination marketing organization. The Manager develops and maintains partnerships with DMOs and leverages external suppliers to maintain and evolve best practices for data management platforms, practices, and strategies.

Favourite place in Richmond: Steveston Village
Living in the Steveston area, with it’s wide variety of dining options and activities, is a highlight of this long-time Richmond resident. I can be often found jogging and biking through the wonderful parks and trails of the area.​

 

Victor Siu, Administrator, Digital and Database​

The Administrator, Digital and Database is responsible for ensuring Tourism Richmond has access to and is leveraging data to drive valuable insights, and helps team members use the CRM system for maximum impact, efficiency, and accuracy. The Administrator also helps maintain and manage data quality and updates, and provides support to the Business Development Team.

Favourite place in Richmond: Richmond Olympic Oval
This is my favourite place in Richmond because when I was younger, I used to participate in fencing—and the Richmond Olympic Oval has hosted some high-profile fencing tournaments over the years.

 

Eric Miller, Strategist, Research & Marketing​
The Strategist, Research & Marketing is responsible for leading business analysis and marketing research projects, digital media planning and execution, and supporting the team with stakeholder CRM updates and marketing services.

Favourite place in Richmond: Minoru Park
My favorite place in Richmond is Minoru Park. I like to relax and enjoy the wildlife by the ponds.
 

Destination & Industry Development

Our Destination & Industry Development team actively works with our stakeholders to build and grow tourism businesses within the Richmond tourism community. 

Ceri Chong, Director of Destination & Industry Development
The Director of Destination & Industry Development is responsible for building and growing tourism businesses within the Richmond tourism community.  The director develops and executes strategies that connect the Richmond community to Tourism Richmond’s marketing strategies.

Favourite place in Richmond: Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site
I find the rich history of the Britannia Shipyards very interesting; I love visiting the bunkhouses and stilt homes and seeing how the cannery workers, fishermen and families lived back then. I also enjoy taking a look at the beautifully crafted wooden boats that are being worked on in the Shipyard buildings. 

Rebecca Wu, Specialist, Marketing & Industry Development
The Specialist, Marketing and Industry Development provides assistance to the Industry Development Manager with project coordination, stakeholder relations, and building and growing the tourism businesses with the Richmond tourism community.

Favourite place in Richmond: Larry Berg Flight Path Park
The Flight Path Park is a hidden gem in Richmond, and my favourite place to catch the evening sunset, and to watch planes land and depart. I enjoy the thrill of standing on "top of the world” (the globe); it ignites my passion for travel and adventure, and reminds me of all the beautiful places I have yet to explore.

Meetings, Conferences & Business Development

Our Meetings, Conferences & Business Development team develops and cultivates strategic partnerships with stakeholders.

Judy Frankel, Manager, Business Development
The Manager, Business Development’s main role is to create impact within the meetings and conference market in Richmond, driving incremental business for stakeholders and hotels. With a focus on attracting new meetings and conferences to the city, the Manager develops and cultivates strategic partnerships with stakeholders.

 

 

Visitor Services

The Visitor Services Team is responsible for visitor servicing, member relations, partnerships, and increasing awareness of Richmond's visitor economy. 

Lori Gelz, Manager, Visitor Services and Engagement​
The Visitor Services Manager manages the daily operation of all visitor servicing locations including all recruiting, selecting, hiring and training of visitor servicing personnel, ensuring adequate collateral materials and retail inventory are on hand, liaises with conference organizers and represents Tourism Richmond at visitor service network events.

Favourite place in Richmond: The Historic Fishing Village of Steveston 
I'm lucky enough to work right in the heart of Steveston, surrounded by wonderful eateries, waterfront views and even hollywood stars from ABC TV's Once Upon a Time! I enjoy chatting with locals and businesses in the area and showing Richmond visitors the sights! 

Denise Halverson, Visitor Services Coordinator
The Visitor Services Coordinator provides assistance to the Visitor Services Manager with the management of the daily operation of all visitor servicing locations and the Steveston Village Post Office.  

Favourite place in Richmond: Shell Road Trail and the South Dyke Trail
Walking the nature trails and dyke is very relaxing, and I love the off leash dog options Richmond has to offer. When enjoying an early morning stroll or a sunset walk you can't beat the beauty and breathtaking scenery of Richmond. 

Administration & Finance

The Administration Team ensures that the organization runs smoothly on a day to day basis.

Nancy Small, Chief Executive Officer
The Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Richmond is responsible for the strategic planning and financial and administration management of the organization. The CEO provides strategic direction for all areas within Tourism Richmond's mandate for marketing, sales, visitor and partner services, and community, government and industry relations.

Favourite place in Richmond: Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site
I love the history and the architecture at this National Historic Site. It is a rare surviving mixture of canneries, boatyards and residences! Such an interesting place to spend time, especially after a wonderful breakfast or lunch at one of the local restaurants in picturesque Steveston, a lovely walk away.

 

Carol Yeh, Director, Operations and Travel Trade
The Director, Operations and Travel Trade oversees the day-to-day activities of the organization, including administration, finance, human resources, and technology at the direction of the Chief Executive Officer. The Director also supports and acts as a liaison for the Board of Directors, and acts as the main point of contact for Travel Trade activities and initiatives.

Favourite place in Richmond: The Tapestry Church (9280 No. 2 Rd.) 
Three hundred people in the congregation from all over the world. Events where we celebrate different cultures and contribute to the community. The Tapestry is a microcosm of Richmond - multi-cultural, multi-generational, full of energy, and certainly a hidden gem.

Sherwin Lee, Accountant
The Accountant provides hands-on day-to-day full cycle accounting/bookkeeping service for all aspects of accounting and payroll functions in this not-for-profit organization. Working under the supervision of the Director of Operations, the Accountant is responsible for routine accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger entries, as well as for routine sales tax remittances.

Favourite place in Richmond: Terra Nova Community Garden
I love visiting Terra Nova Community Garden. As one of the community gardeners, I spend every weekend during the summer time to taking care my garden plot there. It provides opportunities for me to not only grow food and flowers, but also to meet new friends, share knowledge, and enjoy the beautiful nature. ​

Sherrie Mejilla, Administrative Coordinator​
The Administrative Coordinator looks after incoming telephone calls and is the first point of contact for visitors to Tourism Richmond's office. Along with general administrative duties, the Administrative Coordinator assists the Finance department with routine bookkeeping tasks. 

Favourite place in Richmond: Richmond Country Farms
There are many reasons why I feel lucky to live in Richmond and our local farms top my list! A favourite of mine is Richmond Country Farms. Their colourful displays of fruits and vegetables are to be admired. Before making my selection of fresh produce, I make a point of walking through the grounds to visit the small farm animals and the nursery, and enjoy nature!
