The Marketing team has a diverse range of responsibilities including development of strategies, promotions, advertising concepts, collateral design and social media management. We create and implement multi-media marketing campaigns that develop and grow the profile and brand of Richmond, BC, Canada as a destination for visitors. We work closely with other departments to ensure integration and maximization of our combined efforts.
Allen Chen, Chief Marketing Officer
The Chief marketing Officer is responsible for the creation and execution of the organization's marketing strategy. The CMO is the custodian of the destination brand and establishes Tourism Richmond’s go to market strategy in relation to target marketing, digital, social media, visitor servicing and earned media initiatives.

YVR is a great airport to come home to, with its serene waterfalls and spirited aboriginal artwork. At the same time for thousands of travelers every day, YVR marks their first impression of Richmond, Vancouver, and Canada – it’s where their story and experiences start.
Crystal Solberg, Manager, Digital and Content Marketing
The Manager, Digital and Content Marketing is responsible for digital content management and community social media management. The Manager, Digital and Content Marketing manages the organization's website, maintains the content calendar, provides analytics reports, and assists the marketing department with promotions, project coordination and management, and administrative tasks.

I absolutely love getting outside and Richmond has some fantastic natural areas to discover! Visiting Richmond's parks is a great way to unwind, and I always bring my camera along to capture the beautiful scenery I find when I explore.
Neha Dewan, Manager, Brand and Marketing
The Manager, Brand and Marketing is responsible for the campaign materials required to ensure the successful delivery of marketing programs. Working with the Chief Marketing Officer to plan initiatives, the Manager, Brand and Marketing is key to the development and production of digital and traditional advertising, promotions, translations, e-newsletters, and print collateral.
Favourite place in Richmond: Fairmont Vancouver Airport
When I first arrived in Richmond, I stayed at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport. It was a wonderful experience of luxury and comfort, and the airport itself has so much to offer. And I love seeing the aircraft land, they represent a new beginning to me. Coming back to the airport makes me feel connected to my friends and family around the world.
Brenda Besler, Analyst, Business and Marketing
The Analyst, Business and Marketing is responsible for gathering and analyzing data to improve Tourism Richmond's initiatives and partner effectiveness. The Analyst participates in the development of strategic research plans, implementation of market measurements and key performance indicators, and evaluates the impact of marketing and sales strategies.

Favourite place in Richmond: Richmond Olympic Oval
The Richmond Olympic Oval is a world-class athletic facility that supports a wide range of sports with rinks, courts, nets, a climbing wall and a gym for everyone's fitness needs. As a paddler, there is just something about paddling in the indoor water tank during a cold and wet Lower Mainland winter that makes you appreciate that this facility exists.
Ceri Chong, Manager, Industry Development
The Manager of Industry Development is responsible for building and growing tourism businesses within the Richmond tourism community. The manger develops and executes strategies that connect the Richmond community to Tourism Richmond’s marketing strategies.
Favourite place in Richmond: Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site
I find the rich history of the Britannia Shipyards very interesting; I love visiting the bunkhouses and stilt homes and seeing how the cannery workers, fishermen and families lived back then. I also enjoy taking a look at the beautifully crafted wooden boats that are being worked on in the Shipyard buildings.
Lesley Chang, Communications Manager
The Communications Manager is responsible for executing the strategic destination media relations plans to promote Richmond as an exciting leisure and business travel destination. The Manager plays an integral role in maximizing awareness of Richmond as a growing tourism destination through earned media coverage, and by serving as an information source and support to media in key markets.
Favourite place in Richmond: Richmond Cultural Centre
The Richmond Cultural Centre has always been one of my favourite places in Richmond because of the sheer variety of activities available. From being able to watch swim competitions, ice hockey games and other sporting events, to learning about the history of Richmond at the City Archives, there's something for everyone at every age.
Our sales team actively works with our members to bring meetings and events to Richmond, BC by attending North American and international trade shows for meeting and event planners. Our team works with meeting and event publications for advertising opportunities and to ensure that Richmond updates are included in relevant tour itineraries, editorials, and newsletters, both online and traditional.
Debbie Jager, Director of Sales
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Sales is responsible for managing, leading, creating and delivering sales and strategies for Convention Sales and Travel Trade markets. The Director of Sales plays a fundamental role in developing future growth and while providing vision, direction and leadership/mentorship to the sales department. The Director of Sales is responsible for increasing room nights predominantly in the Canada/USA Meetings & Conventions Market and other ancillary markets identified by Tourism Richmond. Working in close collaboration with Destination BC, Travel Trade is largely be focused in Canada, USA, Asia and select target markets identified by Tourism Richmond.
Favourite place in Richmond: the boardwalk in Steveston
I enjoy walking the boardwalk in Steveston year-round, however my favourite time is during the spring or summer. The natural beauty along the waterfront is peaceful, inspiring, and restorative. I think that the boardwalk in Steveston is a great place to take a leisurely stroll, or to have an impromptu lunch or picnic.
Teresa Rempel, Manager, Conference & Travel Trade Sales
The Sales Manager is responsible for generating group business leads for our stakeholders with a primary focus on corporate and association business and third party meeting & event planners; as well as SMERF (Social, Military, Education, Religious, Fraternal) and travel trade. The Sales Manager is also responsible for planning and organizing sales missions and trade shows in support of our stakeholders’ business development initiatives and the common goal of achieving group business leads.
Favourite place in Richmond: Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site
The Gulf of Georgia Cannery is my favourite attraction in Richmond. I enjoy learning the stories and history of salmon canning in British Columbia through their interactive exhibits and films. While in Steveston, grabbing some fish & chips and picking up some fresh seafood from one of the fishing boats is an absolute must for me.
The Visitor Services Team is responsible for visitor servicing, member relations, partnerships, and increasing awareness of Richmond's visitor economy.
Lori Gelz, Manager, Visitor Services and Engagement
The Visitor Services Manager manages the daily operation of all visitor servicing locations including all recruiting, selecting, hiring and training of visitor servicing personnel, ensuring adequate collateral materials and retail inventory are on hand, liaises with conference organizers and represents Tourism Richmond at visitor service network events.

I'm lucky enough to work right in the heart of Steveston, surrounded by wonderful eateries, waterfront views and even hollywood stars from ABC TV's Once Upon a Time! I enjoy chatting with locals and businesses in the area and showing Richmond visitors the sights!
Denise Halverson, Visitor Services Coordinator
The Visitor Services Coordinator provides assistance to the Visitor Services Manager with the management of the daily operation of all visitor servicing locations and the Steveston Village Post Office.
Favourite place in Richmond: Shell Road Trail and the South Dyke Trail
Walking the nature trails and dyke is very relaxing, and I love the off leash dog options Richmond has to offer. When enjoying an early morning stroll or a sunset walk you can't beat the beauty and breathtaking scenery of Richmond.

Bruce Okabe, Chief Executive Officer
The Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Richmond is responsible for the strategic planning and financial and administration management of the organization. The CEO provides strategic direction for all areas within Tourism Richmond's mandate for marketing, sales, visitor and partner services, and community, government and industry relations.
Carol Yeh, Director of Operations
The Director of Operations oversees the day-to-day activities of the organization, including administration, finance, human resources, and technology at the direction of the Chief Executive Officer. The Director of Operations also supports and acts as a liaison for the Board of Directors.
Favourite place in Richmond: The Tapestry Church (9280 No. 2 Rd.)
Three hundred people in the congregation from all over the world. Events where we celebrate different cultures and contribute to the community. The Tapestry is a microcosm of Richmond - multi-cultural, multi-generational, full of energy, and certainly a hidden gem.
Sherrie Mejilla, Administrative Coordinator
The Administrative Coordinator looks after incoming telephone calls and and is the first point of contact for visitors to Tourism Richmond's office. Along with general administrative duties, the Administrative Coordinator assists the Finance department with routine bookkeeping tasks.
Favourite place in Richmond: Richmond Country Farms
There are many reasons why I feel lucky to live in Richmond and our local farms top my list! A favourite of mine is Richmond Country Farms. Their colourful displays of fruits and vegetables are to be admired. Before making my selection of fresh produce, I make a point of walking through the grounds to visit the small farm animals and the nursery, and enjoy nature!
