JUNE 24, 2020 – RICHMOND, BC – How well do you know Richmond?

That’s the question Tourism Richmond is posing to locals, in the newly launched Pacific. Authentic. Locals program. The program is designed to inform residents about the value of tourism, and to give them the opportunity to show off Richmond to the millions of visitors who come to our city.

“We wanted to create a program to engage residents in a new way,” said Nancy Small, chief executive officer of Tourism Richmond. “Residents are the fabric of the city and we felt the Pacific. Authentic. Locals program was a great way to both educate and engage them on the value of tourism to the city.”

Residents play a crucial part in Richmond’s destination experience – from welcoming visitors in our city, to recommending Richmond’s attractions, sights and restaurants to visiting friends and family. It’s true: Richmond locals know Richmond best.

“Visitors are looking for an authentic experience. They want to do as the locals do,” says Small. “Now, locals have a chance to share their love of Richmond with future visitors. We’re looking for residents to give a warm Richmond welcome to visitors when travel restrictions are lifted.”

Think you know Richmond well enough? The Pacific. Authentic. Locals program launches with two fun and engaging knowledge tests covering Richmond as an international travel destination and the value of tourism to the city. The program will continue to expand to include more activities to engage residents.
