Dear Team Richmond,
Year end is always a time of reflection for me. 2018 saw an exciting set of changes and challenges – both of which Team Richmond took on without hesitation. Before I was officially part of Team Richmond, I had the opportunity to see the organization go through an entire overhaul, from the brand, the strategic direction and more. Since I came in as the CEO, I’ve learned even more about the destination, your businesses, and what really makes our city tick.
We’re ending 2018 on a very high note. I can’t even begin to summarize all the accomplishments in the past 12 months, since there’s so much to be proud of. From transitioning to a stakeholder model, launching a new destination brand which recently won an award for best marketing campaign in Canada, creating new tourism experiences and winning the 2019 Canada’s West Marketplace bid as host city, I know we’re well on our way to achieving what was set out in our 2018-2020 business and marketing plan.
In fact, we’ve put out another iteration of our business and marketing plan, which you may have seen at our 2018 Year End Celebration and is now available for download. I’m excited about plans we have laid out for 2019 and beyond and I hope you are too. If you were able to attend the celebration, thank you for being a part of it! If you weren’t, I sincerely hope you can make it to our next gathering.
As we enter 2019 undeniably healthier than we’ve ever been, I know there’s still plenty to achieve in our evolution. I see next year lined up with many successes and great achievements.
