Dear Team Richmond,

As I spend more time working with Team Richmond stakeholders in a wide variety of industries, I’ve come to find it very easy to fall in love with the city. I’ve met with several small business owners,  restaurateurs, tour operators and chefs, and it’s inspiring to see how every individual is so passionate about what they do. We are truly fortunate to live – and work – in such a diverse city.

Marketing Director Update

I’m happy to report we’re in the final stages of choosing a new director of marketing to join the Tourism Richmond team. After a rigorous three-month search, we’ve narrowed it down to a shortlist of candidates who all have strong backgrounds in digital marketing, strategic planning and leading talented marketing teams. We’ll have an official update once a new director is in place – aiming for the beginning of Q2.

Celebrating the Lunar New Year

Gong xi fa cai! Gung hei fat choi! No matter how you say it, the Chinese community in Richmond rang in the Year of the Pig earlier this month. With celebrations happening over two weeks at Aberdeen Centre, Lansdowne Centre, CF Richmond Centre, River Rock Casino Resort, the International Buddhist Temple and more, the city was so alive and bustling with lion and dragon dances, blessing ceremonies, family celebrations and gatherings, I have no doubt these celebrations will bring in prosperity, good luck and good fortune for 2019.

We couldn’t let Valentine’s Day pass by without thanking you for being such great stakeholders to work with. We appreciate you and your business. My door is always open, and I’d love to hear from you. I always welcome thoughtful questions and open dialogue so please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,

Nancy Small, Chief Executive Officer, Tourism Richmond
