Dear Team Richmond,

I’m excited to share some updates with you about the Richmond Discovery Shuttle and more.

Update: Richmond Discovery Shuttle

The Richmond Discovery Shuttle launched June 15, and so far, it’s been an absolute success. Thanks to Landsea Tours’ wonderful drivers and reporting, we’re happy to report that over 500 guests have experienced the free tourist shuttle since its launch.

Our visitor services tourism ambassadors took the initiative to find out where these guests are from, and what their plans are in Richmond. Of the 500+ guests, most of the riders are tourists, either extending a day trip from Vancouver, or from those staying in our local hotels. We are excited to see the shuttle doing so well and will be taking a closer look at how the shuttle may have impacted the festivities in Steveston during the Salmon Festival.

Major Events & Festivals

When the sun comes out, so do the crowds – and we know they’re looking for something to do or somewhere to go. Luckily, we’ve got those in spades over the summer months. From annual events such as the Maritime Festival, Farm Fest at Garden City Lands and the Richmond World Festival, to farmers markets, outdoor movie nights and city-led walks, there’s something for everyone. The success of these events is a testament to the organizers, who clearly have a love of the community at large.

Tourism Richmond has a strong role in these events & festivals – above and beyond contributing to attendee numbers. It’s a chance for our stakeholders to engage with the local community and with visitors, and it’s a way for us to give back to the community as well. After all, the fabric of the city is made up of characters, stories, history and culture. Our success directly impacts your bottom line.

As always, I welcome thoughtful comments and questions from stakeholders. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.
