Dear Team Richmond,

Richmond is poised for an excellent summer, with many events happening in our city. The annual Salmon Festival on Canada Day next month is a favourite, as is the Maritime Festival in July and Farm Fest at Garden City Lands in August. Now, along with biking, there’s a new way to get to these great events.

Introducing the Richmond Discovery Shuttle

Richmond Discovery Shuttle

The Richmond Discovery Shuttle officially launches on Saturday June 15, and I could not be more excited about this partnership. The City of Richmond, the Richmond Hotel Association and Tourism Richmond saw a need to provide tourists with easy, expedited transportation from central Richmond to Steveston. This partnership is a great example of our organizations coming together to grow our visitor economy. It’s also a fantastic way for tourists to explore our city – after all, the more activities a tourist does in our city, the more they love Richmond.

The Richmond Discovery Shuttle will run on weekends and statutory holidays starting June 15 through until September 2. For full details and schedules, please click here.

Rendez-Vous Canada, Toronto

Our sales team recently attended Rendez-Vous Canada in force, representing Team Richmond. As Canada’s signature international tourism marketplace where international travel trade connects with Canada’s tourism industry partners, this was a very, very well-attended event. With over 1900 attendees from 29 countries, our team held over 70 appointments with qualified tour operators, receptive tour operators and online travel agencies over three days.

Destination Canada has also evolved their Keep Exploring brand with a new slogan: “Canada: For Glowing Hearts.” The new brand and smart identity presented by the team electrified the crowd at Rendez-Vous Canada, and it moved me. As a Canadian, I felt this new slogan was both a reminder of the national anthem and a very welcoming statement for global visitors. See the new brand here.

As always, I welcome thoughtful comments and questions from stakeholders. Please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Sincerely,

Nancy Small
