CEO’s Message: October 2018 – ON THE ROAD
Dear Team Richmond,
October has been a whirlwind of activity for Tourism Richmond and there’s so much to report! I joined our sales team in Beijing to represent Team Richmond at Showcase Canada Asia, making new connections with over 100 qualified buyers from mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
I represented Tourism Richmond and our stakeholders in 15-minute product pitches to over 150 Chinese tour operators. I wasn’t alone – Team Richmond is well-represented with thirteen other Richmond-based businesses in the hospitality and tourism sectors, including Bestcan Tours, Canada Berries, Canada CYTS Travel Services, Canadian Grand Holidays, World Duty Free, Harbour Air Seaplanes, Larco Hospitality, Lulu Island Winery, McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Vancouver Airport, Reluxury Travel, Rewards Travel China, River Rock Casino Resort & Hotel and TPI Canada.
Our team took over 90 15-minute appointments, speed-dating style and it was clear to us our strength lay in being able to offer visitors experiential activities as well as our robust dining scene. The appointments went by quickly but smoothly and I felt each appointment was quite successful.
Not only that, Tourism Richmond’s sales team is continuing their travels throughout China on a joint sales mission with Tourism Vancouver. We also sent delegates from our marketing team to attend eTourism Summit in San Francisco and our communications manager also attended GoMedia in Calgary.
That’s not all – our home team has also been busy working on numerous projects, including a relaunch and rebrand of the ever-popular Dumpling Trail, a refresh of the Business and Marketing plan and so much more. Keep your eyes and ears open for more news about these two items next month.
