January was a busy month for the sales team! Continue reading for a recap of the major events the sales team attended – Tete-a-Tete, Destination Direct Canada and RCMA Emerge.
Tete-a-Tete — Ottawa. Ontario
On January 30, Teresa and Eric attended the Tete-a-Tete trade show for association, corporate and government planners in Ottawa with several Richmond Hotel Destination Association members. Team Richmond was well represented by Diane Gaudet from the River Rock, Nick Ten from the Westin Wall Centre Vancouver Airport, and Omar Assakkali, Shannon Rivers and Q Duong from the Richmond Conference Centre. With the RHDA’s ‘Lunar New Year’ themed promotional campaign, the Team Richmond booth received a record 207 visitors – the highest number of visitors for a 6-hour show according the show organizer.
Planner attendees were given a red envelope at check-in and were invited to drop off their business card at our booth for the designer bags prize draw, offering us the opportunity to engage the planners in conversations about holding meetings in Richmond. As a result, we have identified several potential leads in 2021 and 2022 for Richmond.
Destination Direct Canada — Ottawa, Ontario
Prior to the Tete-a-Tete trade show, Teresa and Eric attended the Destination Direct Canada program in Ottawa – a two-day Hosted Buyer Program for qualified association, corporate, third-party and government buyers from across Canada. Tourism Richmond had fifteen one-on-one pre-scheduled appointments with qualified buyers for Richmond conducted in a hotel suite. Through this program, we have identified several leads for 2020 and 2021.
Teresa will be attending the ConferenceDirect Annual Partner Meeting (APM) in Atlanta. It is an annual event for suppliers to engage in face-to-face time with over 200 ConferenceDirect Associates in a reverse trade show format over three days, March 3 to 6. Tourism Richmond will also join Business Events Canada for a hosted all-attendees breakfast to promote destinations across Canada.
RCMA Emerge — Greensboro, NC
Debbie Jager and Jeremy Lim from the Sheraton Vancouver Airport and Marriott Vancouver Airport have just returned from Greensboro, NC where they met with Canadian and American faith-based meeting planners at RCMA Emerge. During the two-day tradeshow, we met with several new planners and highlighted the benefits of holding conferences in Richmond, resulting in at least two new group leads for our accommodation partners:
- Summer, 2020 conference – 225 room nights
- Fall, 2022 conference - 650 room nights
