May has seen the launch of several new initiatives to raise the awareness of Richmond and its many attractions with our hospitality front line employees in Richmond and Metro Vancouver. We consulted with several representatives from our hotels to come up with the initiatives that we felt would be the most beneficial to our front-line employees. We hope these will enable them to better serve their guests when asking for things to do, places to eat and transportation options in Richmond.
Industry FAM Tours
Several FAM tours have been scheduled during the popular Tourism Challenge period; the tours sold out in a matter of days with concierge, front desk agents and other hospitality employees from Richmond and Vancouver.
The tour took in a number of Richmond’s attractions including: The Olympic Experience at the Richmond Oval, The Richmond Art Gallery and Museum, The Gulf of Georgia Cannery, The Steveston Museum, The Steveston Interurban Tram, Pajo's Fish & Chips, Steveston Village and Britannia Shipyards.

Hospitality Tool Kit
The tool kit encompasses several tools for front line staff to use while servicing their guests. It includes:
- Your Guide to Richmond – A quick reference guide that educates and answers many common questions guests ask
- Your Guide to VisitRichmondBC.com – Our website is a great source of information. This quick reference guide points our useful sections of the site such as the events calendar, restaurant profiles which include maps and special offers.
- Maps – Coming soon, we will have downloadable maps and directions for local attractions and transit stops.
Vancouver's 2018 Tourism Showcase Trade Show
Team Tourism Richmond attended the showcase at the Vancouver Convention Centre. This popular trade show sees over 900 hospitality employees pass through its doors each year. The team talked to hundreds of people about Richmond.
