It was great to see everyone at the 2018 Annual General Meeting and Mix & Mingle! Our keynote speaker, Rick LeLacheur, is the new President and CEO of the BC Lions. The Edmonton native and newly arrived BC resident shared his wealth of knowledge and experience exploring the significance of branding in the community, specifically around how to drive attendance to events, and more importantly, how to make your brand relevant to your audience – and your community – today.
Pacific. Authentic. Scholarship.
We were extremely pleased to present the $20,000 Pacific. Authentic. Scholarship to The Steveston Heritage Tour. This tour comprises of the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site, the Britannia Shipyards, along with the Steveston Interurban Tram and the Steveston Museum.
This unique partnership was a direct result of the Tourism Richmond Remarkable Experiences Workshop held in January/February 2018. The tour neatly ties together four of Steveston’s historical sites into a progressive story led by professional interpreters, paired with local cuisines, tastings and craft brews.
The Steveston Heritage Tour will launch in the fall with two tours in September and October. As part of the Pacific. Authentic. Scholarship, Tourism Richmond will aid in ongoing project management, marketing coaching and support. Congratulations to everyone!

2017 corporate results were reviewed and highlighted in the Annual Report and the strong foundation we built is paying off.
2018 has already proven to be a strong year. We’re nearing the end of Q2 and already, we’re seeing great results with our always-on digital campaign on the VisitRichmondBC.com website, with almost 50 per cent growth year over year in organic search traffic. Along with our new brand platform, established Cooperative Marketing Investment Fund, new stakeholder programs, stakeholder workshops and more, we’ve created a very unique model for a Destination Marketing Organization and one that is beginning to be emulated by other DMOs.
And on that note, I will say I’m going to very much miss working with Team Richmond. I know the Tourism Richmond Board of Directors are expediting their search for a new CEO, but in the meantime, you will be in very good hands with our core team of professionals. Don’t hesitate to reach out to any one of them; they truly are subject matter experts in their fields and committed to promoting our great community.
