WeAreRichmondBC.ca will support and connect Richmond residents and businesses during COVID-19.
MAY 14, 2020 - RICHMOND, BC – Tourism Richmond, Economic Development Richmond and the Richmond Chamber of Commerce have joined forces to create WeAreRichmondBC.ca, a centralized hub to connect residents and Richmond-based businesses in an effort to drive economic recovery and encourage community support.
WeAreRichmondBC.ca will increase awareness of available resources throughout the community, amplify existing initiatives and, in doing so, help bring the community closer together as it seeks to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We felt this was a missing piece for the community,” said Nancy Small, chief executive officer of Tourism Richmond. “Partnering with the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and the City of Richmond’s Economic Development team felt like the right way to create a comprehensive hub for Richmond residents and businesses to drive community spirit and support for local businesses during these difficult times.”
“Local businesses are essential to the fabric of our community,” said Mayor Brodie, City of Richmond Mayor. “Now, more than ever, it’s essential to show that we are united in our effort to encourage the return of local businesses and their employees and support them as they recover from this unprecedented situation.”
"The Richmond community is incredibly resilient and creative,” commented Matt Pitcairn, chief executive officer of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, “But from a business perspective, we know how challenging the last two months have been, and how further disruptive the months ahead will be. It is the Chamber's hope that WeAreRichmondBC becomes a tool for employers and residents to get through these extraordinary times, and work collaboratively toward a safe and prosperous recovery."
WeAreRichmondBC.ca was designed with the community in mind. The site not only links to City services, pandemic supports for businesses and regular updates from the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, it also aims to connect the community with ways to support local businesses.
Residents will be able to view a comprehensive list of restaurants, stores and other businesses that are still open for business. WeAreRichmondBC.ca identifies locations that are currently open, lists their contact information, and services available – whether via take out, curbside pickup, or online services.
The community is also reminded to continue to support the #RichmondHasHeart social media campaign launched by the City of Richmond. People and businesses are encouraged to share uplifting news, photos and stories that show how they are supporting the community through posts on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. The posts will be featured on WeAreRichmondBC.ca.
Richmond-based businesses can sign up for a free listing at WeAreRichmondBC.ca.
Launched in partnership by Tourism Richmond, the City of Richmond Economic Development and the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, WeAreRichmondBC.ca is a dedicated website to connect residents and businesses to services, resources, supports, virtual experiences and more during the COVID-19 pandemic.
