Tourism Richmond's communications team attended GoMedia 2017, Destination Canada's largest media trade show from October 2-5. This annual event connects top Canadian and international travel media and influencers with provincial, territorial and regional Canadian tourism organizations, major hotel properties, attractions and transportation companies. Hosted by a different Canadian destination each year, the marketplace features one-to-one meetings, pre/post and regional tours, professional development opportunities and networking events.
Hosted in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the communications team went armed with the latest news about attractions and experiences in Richmond. Meeting with over 30 qualified travel and food writers, photographers, videographers and influencers, Team Richmond was well represented at this well-attended media conference over three days.
Pre-Conference FAM Tour Report
As a partner attending GoMedia, Tourism Richmond had the opportunity to host a small group of travel writers and influencers on a pre-conference FAM tour, to experience Richmond first-hand. Participating vendors of this FAM tour included:
- The Hotel at the River Rock
- Tramonto at River Rock Casino Resort, and their new executive chef Eric Pless
- Fairmont Vancouver Airport
- Globe@YVR at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport and their executive chef Colin Burslem
- The May Family Farm
- Steveston Seabreeze Adventures
- Blue Canoe Restaurant and their executive chef Daryle Nagata
- The Richmond Night Market
This unique itinerary was made possible by the support of the above vendors, as well as many others. The experiences our attendees had, and the generous hospitality demonstrated by all vendors created a very special and welcoming FAM tour. It will no doubt keep Richmond top-of-mind for future story ideas. We look forward to the stories these writers will produce from this FAM tour!
