Tourism Richmond is committed to providing our stakeholders reliable, accurate and timely information relating to the ever-changing novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in our community. We are working closely with our tourism counterparts in Metro Vancouver and at every level of government. We would like to take this opportunity to provide you with an update on the work we’re doing on your behalf.

Metro Vancouver Response and Recovery Task Force

Tourism Richmond is taking a proactive role in supporting the industry by spearheading the development of a Response and Recovery Task Force with other Metro Vancouver tourism and hospitality industry leaders. The Task Force’s primary objective will be to engage with all levels of government to ensure the sector’s interests are both being heard and understood. Additionally, the group will act as a single, unified voice to media and other external audiences as the authority on the tourism and hospitality industry in Metro Vancouver. We will have more information to share in the coming days.

Important Request: COVID-19 Business Impact Survey

The British Columbia Economic Development Association, BC Chamber of Commerce, Small Business BC and Community Futures have developed a joint survey seeking input around current and future impacts to businesses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you are a business owner or entrepreneur in Richmond, please complete this survey. Your feedback and input is essential to the provincial and federal governments. It will be used to inform them how to best mitigate the damage of this global market disruption, and how best to help recover.

The survey will take under four minutes to complete and will close on Wednesday, March 18. Take the survey now.

Support from Canada’s Regional Development Agencies

If you aren’t aware of Canada’s Regional Development Agencies (RDAs), they are the front line for economic development in Canada. They have pledged to work closely with small- to medium-sized businesses in the tourism sector during this challenging time. If you are a tourism operator, a small- or medium-sized business or organization, and have received RDA funding in the past, you may be eligible for further support. We encourage you to reach out to your local RDA office for more information.
