Richmond has more than its fair share of happy hours (off-peak drink and dine deals) for those who love to fuel-up while enjoying a bargain or two. Check out a few of our favourite happy hour specials in the city below.
Where: 7571 Westminster Highway
When: 3:00pm - 6:00pm daily
What: The recently renovated bar and restaurant at the Vancouver Airport Marriott Hotel has also overhauled its happy hour menu. Slide over to 75 West Coast Grill for an afternoon gathering with friends and dive into $5 highballs, $6 glasses of house red or white wine, and a great array of $6 craft beers from Steveston’s Britannia Brewing (Ashore Rye Porter recommended). Food-wise, consider sharing some appetizer-sized dishes as well: nachos, wings, calamari, and edamame are all half price during happy hour.
Where: 5911 Minoru Boulevard
When: Food: 3:00pm - 6:00pm & 10:00pm - 11:00pm Monday to Friday; Drinks: 3:00pm - 6:00pm & 10:00pm - 11:00pm daily.
What: A two-minute walk along Minoru Boulevard from 75 West—which makes them perfect for a short happy hour crawl—lounge-like corner spot CAVU in the Hilton Vancouver Airport Hotel serves-up $5.50 beer and spirits specials, plus $6 wine deals. But food is the big lure, with 12 dishes (priced from $3 to $11) available to satisfy your growling belly. Options include garlic ribs, vegetable spring rolls, and Baja calamari, but we love the $8 fried chicken basket (Nashville hot style recommended).

But it’s not just about forgetting work and gazing at the shoreline views from your table at the Deck Kitchen + Bar. Drop by at the right time and you can also plunge into happy hour: $4 lagers, $5 highballs, and $6 wine specials. Don't forget the food: alongside deals on nachos, oysters and more, consider the $12 moules frites special, suffused with garlic, butter, and white wine.
Where: 12111 Third Avenue
When: 3:00pm - 6:00pm daily; and after 9:00pm Sunday to Thursday.
What: This darkwood Steveston pub serves great deals for drink and dine bargain-hunters. The happy hour food menu at the Buck & Ear is grouped into three categories—$5, $8, and $10—with several options in each section. You’ll find everything from fish tacos and chicken wings to perogies and deep-fried pickles with fries, but we particularly love the house-made One Hand Pies (in pork or chicken versions). Drinks are also a steal here, with afternoon deals including $3.50 lager, $4 wine, and $4 highball specials.

And with so much competition on such a compact thoroughfare, there are more than a few deals to discover. A Hong Kong-style café serving homestyle Cantonese comfort dishes, Peaches is a cozy hangout with lots of regular diners. Many of them come for the happy hour deals, including chicken wings, Chinese pancakes, and spring rolls. There are also several $6.99 fresh-prepared sandwich specials, with varieties ranging from pork cutlets to corned beef.

There are also two wine specials (one for $3.50 and one for $5), while the decidedly tempting food deals at Monkey 9 Brewing include pulled pork tacos, tater tots, spicy beans, and meatball skewers.

But it’s the excellent selection of bargain-priced food at Gyu-Kaku that makes this a great place to gather with friends and share a few plates. There are 15 or so options to choose from, including pork dumplings and fried bacon chips (both $3.25 each).
Where: #1810-4720 McClelland Rd
When: 12:00pm – 2:00pm (milk tea and pearls special) and 8:00pm - 10:00pm (50% off) Monday to Friday
What: Happy hour drinking isn’t just about alcohol. This friendly Taiwanese bubble tea joint hosts an afternoon deal—$1.99 Original Milk Tea + Pearls, served hot or iced—that can’t be beat. And T-Go Tea’s evening happy hour deal (50% off) covers six of the café’s signature drinks: three milk teas and three fresh teas. A great way to try bubble tea for the first time, we recommend a lovely lemon green tea with a delicious coconut jelly addition (don’t forget to choose your ice and sugar levels). Keep in mind that it’s cash-only here—and make sure you save time to peruse the original artworks in the back room.

If you’re thirsty, you’ll find $5 beer, wine, sangria, and mimosa specials at Cucina Piccolo. And if you’re craving more substantial sustenance, there are also several $8 tapas deals to consider, including calamari, stuffed mushroom caps, and bruschetta.

What: The Fairmont Vancouver Airport has an elevated, alternative approach to happy hour: a once-a-week lure that hooks in-the-know locals and visitors to its swish Jetside Bar. Alongside grand views of YVR’s busy airplane operations, you’ll discover a pop-up seafood bar with fresh-shucked oysters on the half-shell priced at just $2 each. There are also $8 beer specials from Stanley Park Brewing, plus live music and free two-hour airport parking. It’s the kind of unique Richmond offer that puts the ‘happy’ in happy hour.
