Yesterday’s presentation of the eighth Annual Chinese Restaurant Awards marked another year of outstanding Chinese culinary achievements. An esteemed panel of the Lower Mainland’s top Chinese cuisine critics named their top Chinese dishes of 2016, along with a panel of social media foodie critics as well. Did any of your favourites make the list?

The Chinese Restaurant Awards food critics included Founding Chair Stephen Wong, restaurant critic Lee Man, Richmond native and Vancouver Magazine contributor Brendon Mathews, and internet food critic Foodie Yau. The four critics spent many evenings and weekends dining out at various Chinese restaurants across Metro Vancouver to determine the best Signature Dishes, including the best duck dish, hot pot dish and vegetarian dish.

A new component to this year’s Annual Chinese Restaurant Awards is the Social Media Choice Awards. The inaugural social media judges panel included Sherman Chan of Sherman’s Food Adventures, Emily Cheng of Miss Vancouver Piggy, Jesse Tsao of and Cathy Zhou, active on Weibo and WeChat.

Altogether, fifteen dishes were celebrated yesterday at the River Rock Show Theatre. Without further ado, here they are!
