Celebrating another outstanding year of Chinese culinary achievements in Metro Vancouver, the results of the ninth annual Chinese Restaurant Awards were announced last night. An esteemed panel of judges selected the top 10 Chinese dishes of 2017, and the awards were presented to the winners last night at the River Rock Show Theatre. This year’s Chinese Restaurant Awards food critics included Founding Chair Stephen Wong, Globe and Mail restaurant critic Alexandra Gill, local food writer Lee Man, Richmond native and Vancouver Magazine contributor Brendon Matthew and internet food critic Iris Yim.

New to this year’s Chinese Restaurant Awards is the Chinese Master Chefs Award, presented by Alberta Canola Producers, recognizing outstanding chefs skilled in creating regional Chinese dishes. This award was presented to Executive Chef Leung Yiu Tong of Hoi Tong Chinese Seafood Restaurant in Richmond and Executive Chef Sam Leung from Dynasty Seafood in Vancouver.

Of the 10 Critics’ Choice Awards winners, more than half of the eateries are located in Richmond, B.C.:
