One Adventure, Twenty Clues

Here’s the backstory. The residents of Steveston Village noticed all the nets disappeared from Fisherman’s Wharf overnight. You and your team are renowned clue-solvers and have been asked by the chief of police to find the man who knows what happened. A note with a mysterious code and poem was left at the police headquarters. Your mission is to solve all the clues to uncover who stole the nets.

Your goal is to solve the mystery in the shortest amount of time using the fewest number of hints. Your team will be given twenty clues, written in cryptic language, that will test your wits and ability to think outside of the box.
The game starts right outside of the Steveston Tram, where you will have to carefully inspect the area around the building to key in the answer to the first clue. Since the game is designed with social distancing in mind, you are not required to enter any buildings to solve the clues.

Spelling counts; carefully type in your answers or you won’t be able to move onto the next clue! Incorrect answers add a 10-minute time penalty to your final score. You can also ask for hints on both the location and solution for your clue, but it will also add 10 minutes to your final score. Skipping a clue results in an even bigger penalty, as it will add 30 minutes to your time. Be strategic when using these features—you want to crack all clues as quickly as possible.

It might not feel like a competition, but you are competing with other teams for the fastest completion time! However, you will be given opportunities to take breaks without adding time to your final score.

Mystery Towns is not only a great team bonding activity, it is also a great way to learn more about the history and culture of the people who shaped Steveston Village. Even for local residents might notice a few new things, such as Big Red’s memorial in Steveston Town Square Park, or the mural of the Titania sailing ship.

If you successfully complete the game, you can see how you’ve ranked against other teams here.

Mystery Towns also has games in Victoria, Vancouver, and Whistler as well, so be sure to check those out when you have a chance.
