Inside the city’s landmark Richmond Olympic Oval, Vancouver-based YYOGA operates a spacious, two-room fitness centre with a full range of highly inviting yoga classes. Suitable for everyone from beginner to advanced level, themes include Flow, Hatha, Restorative, and the company’s signature YHot—a slow, held-posture approach in a room heated to 40 degrees. There’s also a YSculpt option that uses weights for core strength and conditioning and to advance your functional fitness. 

Drop-in rates are $24 per class, with value-added packages (including a three-class $49 introductory option) also available. You can also rent mats, mat towels, and shower towels here—handy for most out-of-town visitors. In addition, the Oval’s YYOGA facility has an infrared sauna for those taking its classes. Yoga-wise, their classes are a great way to unwind your tense muscles at the same time as growing core strength and flexibility. Beginners are welcome and mats can be provided.

There’s a wide range of packages available, but drop-in pricing for most yoga sessions is $20. If you’re a rabbit fan, though, consider their delightful Bunny Yoga classes, which run every few weeks. Priced at $25, you’ll be taking your class alongside some curious, whisker-twitching bunnies. Ideal for beginners and also kid-friendly (ages six and over), you can even hang out with the rabbits after your workout. The City hosts a diverse range of yoga classes in its ever-welcoming community facilities, from the Steveston Community Centre to the City Centre Community Centre and beyond. The program is divided into three levels.

Gentle Fit Yoga classes are aimed at older adults, those new to fitness, or those looking for a less arduous workout. These sessions cover the basics—including achieving postures—and are ideal if you’re slightly intimidated by the idea of joining a regular yoga class. Multi-Level Yoga classes include both Flow yoga and Regular yoga approaches and are aimed at those looking for a more serious or challenging workout. Postures, breathing, and relaxation techniques are the foundation of these sessions. And finally, Intermediate-Advanced Yoga classes can include Power and Fusion approaches. With a focus on fitness, these sessions work on a range of postures and sequences.
