Fairmont hotels have specialized in grand afternoon teas for decades, and Richmond’s five-star Fairmont Vancouver Airport is no exception. Hosted in their stylish Globe@YVR restaurant––complete with floor-to-ceiling views of the mountain-framed runways––you’ll enjoy delicate sandwiches, fresh scones (with cream and preserves, of course) and delightful sweet treats served alongside Fairmont’s premium, own-brand teas. A modern update of the traditional afternoon tea, there’s also a welcome children’s version for junior diners.

London Farm

6511 Dyke Road, Richmond, BC

One of Richmond’s most beloved historic sites, London Farm is an excellent destination to visit at any time––especially for its flower-studded grounds and museum-like heritage farmhouse. But it’s also a hidden gem hotspot for fans of traditional afternoon teas, hosted in its charming, antique-lined dining room. Space and serving dates are limited, but book ahead and you’ll soon be enjoying three house-baked treats, aromatic London Lady Tea and fresh-made scones served with the farm’s delicious own-made jam (you can buy a jar to take home).

Price & schedule: $28.99 per person (seniors $26.99). August 3 and 4; September 7 and 8. December holiday tea dates to be announced.

Mr. Gold

3480 Moncton Street, Richmond, BC

Located in the heart of Steveston Village, sidestep the tempting gelato bar and opt for a sit-down afternoon tea at this friendly, Italian-influenced venue. The main option includes tiered plates of delicate sandwiches (smoked salmon included) plus irresistible sweet goodies such as macrons, cheesecake and fruit tart. A sultana cranberry scone with jam and a choice of teas is also included. Uniquely, there’s a vegetarian-only option as well plus smaller versions of the main afternoon tea menu if you’re not feeling particularly peckish.
