ROCANINI COFFEE ROASTERS

#115 – 3900 Moncton Street, Richmond, BC

Steveston Village isn’t just about great fish and chips; you’ll also find several inviting coffee shops to satisfy your caffeine cravings. Perhaps the hippest of the bunch, Rocanini Coffee Roasters serves drinks crafted from beans processed in its own Vancouver roastery. From espresso to cold brew and from lattes to siphon coffees, there’s an extensive menu of options (plus pastries and sandwiches) to dive into. Snag a window seat and watch over the bustling Moncton Street and No. 1 Road intersection, or grab a drink to go—their beautifully designed cups are very photogenic.

STEVESTON COFFEE COMPANY

3511 Moncton Street, Richmond, BC

A stalwart of the Richmond coffee scene from the days when artisan java was barely on the menu in Metro Vancouver, this Steveston Village charmer has a loyal following in the village and beyond. Drop by Steveston Coffee Company for all the standard coffee classics plus a hearty menu of bagels, breakfast items, and fortifying sandwiches. Sunny day? Grab a coffee to go and head over to Garry Point Park for a scenic walk, or spend some time exploring the many cool shops dotted throughout the village.

VILLAGE BOOKS & COFFEE HOUSE

#130 – 12031 First Avenue, Richmond, BC

This is probably one of the coziest spots in historic Steveston to get a cup of coffee—even more so if you’re also a bookworm at heart. Filled to the ceiling with well-priced books, Village Books & Coffee House has been serving locals for over 30 years and is a wonderful spot to get lost in the thousands of books available on the shelves. The coffee here is brewed with locally-roasted beans from 49th Parallel, ensuring a velvety smooth beverage. We suggest trying the Canuck Latte, along with one of the delicious baked goods they serve.

BLUE DUCK CAFÉ

#2118 20800 Westminster Highway, Richmond, BC

A cozy reminder of the great neighbourhood cafés that used to be on every other street, the well-priced comfort dishes at this family-run eatery have a satisfying homemade feel. Options include breakfast omelettes as well as lunchtime wraps, sandwiches and filled paninis. But if you’re really hungry, we recommend a generous serving of their house-made lasagna or shepherd’s pie.

SANCTUARY CAFÉ

#160 – 13020 No. 2 Road, Richmond, BC

Whenever we’re in Richmond’s London Landing area, we always drop by Sanctuary, a bicycle-loving café that serves great coffee, top bakery treats (cinnamon buns recommended) and a super-friendly welcome. But that’s not all. Peckish visitors will also find wraps, breakfast sandwiches and hunger-busting Australian-style pies in several varieties (we love the juicy braised beef).

RIVER ROAD CAFÉ

11782 River Road, Richmond, BC

Behind an unassuming grey façade, you’ll find the beating heart of a unique Brazilian café. The welcome from the friendly staff could not be warmer, but it’s the authentic street food that will have you coming back for more. From empanadas to beef croquettes and from cheese puffs to several varieties of rectangular pies (aka pastels)––make sure you arrive hungry!

LION & FRESH PRESS

#105 – 6386 No. 3 Road, Richmond, BC

This cheerful café serves everything from waffles to breakfast muffins and from quiche to croissant sandwiches—plus delicious coffee, smoothie and matcha beverages. But save room for a buttercream-filled Dacaron, a fusion of dacquoise and macaron French pastries. It might inspire you to book a trip to Paris––which you can do, uniquely, at the Canada Lion Travel agency located inside the café!

MIION CAFÉ

#130 – 6386 No. 3 Road, Richmond, BC

There’s much more than flat whites and macchiatos to savour at this recently opened city-centre café.  Drop by Miion for a pit stop cookie, croissant or Ube loaf, or linger over fresh-made lunchtime options that include salads, fruit bowls and four tempting sandwich choices––we especially love their hearty turkey bagel option, complete with white BBQ sauce.

L’AROMAS

3677 Westminster Highway, Richmond, BC

A handy pit stop if you’re visiting nearby Terra Nova Rural Park, you’ll find everything from breakfast wraps to gourmet salads to consider with your coffee here. We love the hot sandwiches, including several panini options and a Montreal-style smoked meat on rye. L’aromas also make their own bread, so be sure to pick-up a loaf to take home––cranberry walnut sourdough recommended.

Bánh Mì Très Bon

#18404720 Mcclelland Road , Richmond, BC

Need an extra kick? Try a Vietnamese iced coffee! Brewed with a drip filter, rich espresso drips over sweetened condensed milk, then poured over ice for a bold, refreshing drink. While many Vietnamese restaurants serve it, Bánh Mì Très Bon crafts theirs with a carefully selected organic Robusta-Arabica blend, perfected over six months. Pair it with a house-made macaron for the ultimate treat!
