Spas, Health & Lifestyle in Richmond, BC
Richmond proudly boasts one of Canada’s healthiest and longest-living populations, with the average life expectancy sitting at 83.4 years. That’s almost four years longer than the Canadian average! Activity levels and farm-fresh food aside, relaxing and keeping stress down are key to living healthily. Thankfully, Richmond has ample spas and wellness centres offering everything from massage to meditation.
Meditation
Clear your mind and head to the Bodhi Meditation Centre for free drop-in meditation classes that welcome everyone regardless of experience. Also offering free meditation classes are Richmond’s Buddhist temples—the International Buddhist Society, Steveston Buddhist Temple, and Ling Yen Mountain Temple. Be sure to check their websites for up-to-date list of class dates and times. While classes are free, donations are appreciated.
Spas
Richmond’s award-winning day spas feature ambiance, amenities, and services you won’t find anywhere else. Spa VERSANTÉ, just across from Lansdowne Centre, offers one of Richmond’s most opulent spa experiences, complete with 14 lavish treatment rooms and over 5,000 sq. ft. of exquisitely designed spa space.
You’ll also want to take a day to experience celebrity-favorite Absolute Spa. Richmond is home to three locations, including one in YVR’s post-security area. Absolute Spa has won over 80 industry awards for excellence, and was named on CNN.com’s “Top Airport Spas” list. Join the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Zac Effron, and Jennifer Lopez for a day of relaxation unlike any other.
Yoga
Richmond’s yoga studios cater to both beginners and seasoned yogis, with many of them offering drop-in classes and hot yoga for anyone interested. YYoga at the Richmond Olympic Oval is particularly worth checking out. It offers over 40 classes a week, with its space accommodating over 50 mats at a time. You’re not just limited to yoga, though—guests can also use the infrared sauna and private tea lounge during their visit.
Asian Spas & Salons
Richmond’s Asian influence has played a major role in the city’s health and wellness scene. Salons offering Thai massage, Chinese pressure point massage, shiatsu massage, and herbal body wraps in Richmond's Golden Village are often small and simple, but the services are fast, friendly, and very affordable. Foot massage and reflexology is offered at many of the city’s spas, the perfect cure to a day on your feet. Richmond is also home to one of Canada’s only wellness facilities specializing in salt therapy, Himalayan Salt Paradise, offering traditional treatment for respiratory and other ailments.
