Local talent and touring acts take centre stage in Richmond to dazzle audiences, many of whom travel to the city to take in a show. The vibrancy and talent of Richmond’s performing arts community has established it as one of the region’s best.

Gateway Theatre is one of Canada’s best regional theatres and stages musicals, comedies, and dramas from both local playwrights and global favourites. Don’t miss the Signature Series, spotlighting award-winning plays that bring stories from across Canada and the world to local audiences.

On the first Wednesdays of October, November, and December, Minoru Chapel houses world-class opera. This restored 1891 church gives an intimately historic venue in which to enjoy opera, making for a beautiful night out. Seats to these shows are limited, so make sure to purchase your tickets in advance.

There’s also the River Rock Show Theatre, which features a terrific year-round lineup of touring celebrity comics, musicians, and other performers. Past headliners have included Russell Peters, Diana Ross, Blondie, and Engelbert Humperdinck, just to name a few.
