Dear Team Richmond,
Many exciting happenings to report as summer begins in beautiful Richmond!
Alongside the always anticipated spot prawn season, we were thrilled to launch the Fishers Walk installation and a new Interpretive Walking Trail this month, located between Fisherman’s Wharf and Garry Point Park. These new experiences provide visitors with insightful facts and bold visuals on the history of the people and marine life that make the harbour a thriving destination. In partnership with the Steveston Harbour Authority, an Opening Ceremony was held on June 3rd featuring a speech by Malcolm Brodie, Mayor of Richmond and a ribbon-cutting celebration attended by myself and the following local leaders;
- Ceri Chong (VP of Destination and Community, Tourism Richmond)
- Jaime Gusto (General Manager, Steveston Harbour Authority)
- Fred Scott (Chair of Public Art Committee, Steveston Harbour Authority)
I hope you find the time to experience this immersive community highlight! Information and a route map can be found at: www.visitrichmondbc.com/fishers-walk/.
In collaboration with the City of Richmond, Richmond Hotel Association and Universal Coach Lines, the Richmond Discovery Shuttle is back to provide easy access to attractions and experiences for visitors and residents through the busy summer season. The complimentary Discovery Shuttle runs with two routes on weekends and holidays from June 21 to September 7. All information can be found at www.visitrichmondbc.com/discovery-shuttle/.
Also returning is the Steveston Bike Valet, in partnership with Steveston Harbour Authority, City of Richmond, Bike Valet, TransLink and Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site (NHS). The free, secure bike parking will be available on weekends and holidays from 11am – 7pm from June 21 to September 7 (special hours in effect on June 30 for Canada Day) in the NHS Parking Lot of Gulf of Georgia Cannery. Find out more at www.visitrichmondbc.com/bike-valet/.
We also had the pleasure of attending the 2025 TMAC Conference and Media Marketplace in Saskatoon, alongside industry partners and travel media from across Canada. We met with over 40 travel writers and content creators and are already receiving great interest in our story! With the assistance of the Richmond Lion Dancers at the Future Host Luncheon, Tourism Richmond was officially announced as the host of the 2026 TMAC Conference from April 29 – May 2. The 250 delegates will visit and experience our city during the national conference. This event is an exciting opportunity for all stakeholders – we look forward to sharing more details with you as they unfold!
All the best,
