Winter in the Village Experience Sponsorship Funding Grant

Tourism Richmond was excited to announce the return of the Winter in the Village Experience Sponsorship Funding Grant. This grant was open to associations, societies, businesses, and entrepreneurs who host events or activities during the Winter in the Village campaign period. 

Discover the partners and experiences that received support through this initiative: 

• Songs in the Snow (Steveston Historical Society): The beloved Songs in the Snow event returns on December 6 and 13 at Steveston Town Square Park, featuring holiday music performed by local artists, community groups, and schools. Guests can enjoy refreshments and create vintage-style holiday crafts. 
• Steveston Festival of Trees (Gulf of Georgia Cannery NHS): From now until January 4, 2026, the Cannery transforms into a festive wonderland, hosting a friendly tree-decorating competition among local businesses. Voting is available onsite and on their Facebook page until December 31. 

• Winter Celebration at Steveston Community Centre: The inaugural Winter Celebration on December 7 invited the community to make holiday memories before the centre’s relocation, with crafts, games, live performances, refreshments, and a visit from Santa. 

• Sip and Savour the Season (Breakfast Table): The Breakfast Table’s first festive Sip and Savour events offer a social evening with cocktails, wine tastings, and food stations on Saturdays—December 6, 13, and 20. Guests are encouraged to mingle and celebrate the holidays. 

• Festive Lights at Steveston Landing: Steveston Landing shines with three snowflake light installations, enhancing the festive atmosphere at Fisherman’s Wharf and attracting visitors to enjoy the seasonal display. 

• Festive Events by Steveston Merchants Association: The Steveston Merchants Association supports several Winter in the Village experiences, including: 
  • Holiday Dog Parade and Photos with Santa: On December 14, dogs in holiday costumes parade from Phoenix Pond to the Gulf of Georgia Cannery NHS for photos with Mr. and Mrs. Claus. 
  • Christmas Classic Car Cruise and Display: On December 7, vintage cars decorated for the season cruise and display at Steveston Hotel parking Lot. 
  • Holiday Tree Lighting: On November 30, the community gathered at Steveston Tram for the tree lighting, refreshments, and a live performance by the Beauty Shop Dolls.
