Team Richmond Attends Assembly of First Nations: Circle of Trade

Team Richmond and local industry partners attended the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) Conference as exhibitors in the Circle of Trade Showcase July 5-7th at the Vancouver Convention Centre. This year’s conference titled “Walking the Healing Path” saw hundreds of representatives from First Nations governments from across Canada come “together to advance the priorities of First Nations…on a broad range of issues and policy matters” (Assembly of First Nations).

Team Richmond was joined by two additional Richmond hotel booths, the Richmond Conference Centre and Marriott International, featuring the Westin Wall Centre. Out of town delegates were keen to learn more about the city they flew into just days before and were encouraged to spend their remaining time exploring the city at events such as the Richmond Night Market. Those that had experienced the city previously spoke highly of their time there with hopes of returning soon.

The event provided the opportunity to connect with key First Nations leaders and expose Richmond, not just as a vacation destination, but as a welcoming city ready to host First Nations groups from across Canada. Connections with neighbouring exhibitors were also established, creating additional opportunities to welcome events and meetings into Richmond.

Team Richmond looks forward to continuing these conversations and to attending in 2023 at a yet-to-be-announced Canadian destination.
