Breweries
Richmond’s local craft breweries produce some of the region’s most sought-after brews.
Fuggles Beer opened in 2015 with a mission to “Keep beer weird” with gaming, pop culture and sci-fi references. Check out their tasting room, and don’t forget to sample their refreshing and award-winning Last Strawberry Wit.
Britannia Brewing Company focuses on ales, following “British tradition and West Coast ingenuity”. Their Richmond location is in Steveston, where you can enjoy a flight in their restaurant with a creamy Sockeye and clam chowder, Korean fried cauliflower to start.
Staying in Steveston, Five Roads Brewing Co. is at the intersection of “good beer and great company”. Five Roads has a tasting room where you can sample from their rotation of locally made beers – they offer a great selection of award-winning beers, from pilsners to pale ales to IPAs. You’ll want to pair your beverage with a bite to eat – we recommend the nachos or one of their delicious pizzas (or both!).
Wineries
Lulu Island Winery boasts the largest winery in Metro Vancouver and is BC’s #1 ice wine exporter. This intensely sweet and labour-intensive variety is only produced in Germany, Austra, Canada and China. Please book ahead for tours and tastings of their full wine portfolio.
Country Vines Winery at Richmond Country Farms produces classic whites, reds and rosés. On sunny days, relax with a glass or two on their patio, overlooking the picturesque farm.
Specialty and farm-fresh food
One of the many advantages of being a culturally rich community is the abundance of specialty food shops. Plus, farm-fresh produce is always available, thanks to our temperate climate and rich soil. Exploring Richmond’s local food providers is a fun and rewarding experience – use our Local Food Map to discover the local food providers here in Richmond.
Richmond Country Farms is a family-owned and operated farm store that includes berries, pumpkins, corn, and more.
The Fowl Farmer, operated by Mayview Farms, offers free-run fresh and frozen chicken alongside a selection of local produce and artisan foodstuffs like Helmi’s perogies and Sanjay’s samosas.
Athiana Acres, a family-owned regenerative farm located in Steveston, is committed to promote biodiversity and soil health. You’ll find over 200 varieties of organic fruits, herbs, vegetables, and flowers throughout the year. Visit the farm to select seasonal produce or join a guided farm tour to learn more about regenerative agriculture.
Artisan and small-batch products aren’t hard to find at farmers’ markets like the Kwantlen Street Market and the Steveston Farmers & Artisans Market, where you’ll find specialty items like beer, wine, honey, sauces, and baked goods. Richmond is also home to a 5th generation sausage maker from Germany, Drews Driessen. His shop, D Original Sausage Haus in Steveston, sells sausage handmade with specially-selected meats.
Asian grocery stores
Richmond Asian grocery stores (such as T&T, Foodie World, H Mart, Izumiya, Osaka Supermarket) are stacked with hard-to-find imported items. They are a fantastic way to explore and discover new ingredients.
Tea
As a staple of most Asian countries, excellent tea is easy to find in Richmond. Head to Ten Fu Tea & Ginseng Company or Great Mountain Ginseng at Aberdeen Centre for an abundant selection of specialty and imported tea made from quality ginseng, jasmine, and other herbs and botanicals.
Chocolatiers
Sinfully the Best and Wild Sweets by Dominique and Cindy Dube are where you want to go and indulge in award-winning artisanal chocolate and sweets.
