Favourite place in Richmond: Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site
I love the history and the architecture at this National Historic Site. It is a rare surviving mixture of canneries, boatyards and residences! Such an interesting place to spend time, especially after a wonderful breakfast or lunch at one of the local restaurants in picturesque Steveston, a lovely walk away.

I find the rich history of the Britannia Shipyards very interesting; I love visiting the bunkhouses and stilt homes and seeing how the cannery workers, fishermen and families lived back then. Favourite place in Richmond: Fisherman’s Wharf, Steveston
I love walking the along the pier, especially on a sunny day, watching the activity in the harbor as the seasonal catch of the day is sold right off the many fishing boats. Visiting one of the several fish & chip stands is a must and then finding an open bench to eat as the sun sets while taking in the magnificent views of the North Shore and Coastal Mountains. Depending on the time of year I also enjoy taking in the local music and celebrations around the local seafood such as The Salmon Festival in July and Spot Prawns in May and June.
