Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site
The Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site offers a self-guided exhibit map. The Herring Reduction Plan and the Waves of Innovation: Stories of the West Coast are two ongoing exhibits. You’ll also find seasonal events, like Halloween/The Haunted Sea and the Steveston Festival of Trees.
Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site
Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site is an authentic representation of a once-thriving community of canneries, boatyards, residences and stores. Stroll down the historic boardwalk and learn about the site’s history through interpretive storyboard signage or take a complimentary tour of the Shipyards.

Whale Watching
Whale watching tours take place from April to October and depart from Steveston Village. Orcas are often the main attraction, but humpback, gray, and minke whales can be seen depending on the time of year.
Doors Open
Doors Open is an annual June event in Richmond. Residents and visitors explore the city’s arts, culture and heritage at 50+ partner sites. Artists, cultural and historic facilities, museums, aboriginal organizations, religious institutions, parks and other Richmond organizations open their doors and provide free specialty programs and behind-the-scenes tours.
