D & ID Update: November 2024

The Dumpling Trail is a collection of 17 Richmond eateries that showcase the most delectable dumplings on this side of the Pacific. This self-guided tour for your tastebuds takes you on a journey through formal Dim Sum to food-court hidden gems, with stops along the way to sample authentic dumplings from every corner of the world!

In late October we re-launched the Dumpling Trail with new locations, branding, website and a promotional campaign! We’ve been really pleased with the results so far, and here are some of our early ‘wins’, in addition to what we have planned for the months ahead:

New Logo and Website – We’ve developed an awesome new logo that combines chopsticks holding a dumpling with a location pin. We’ve also developed a new Dumpling Trail website with a more feature rich user interface to help you plan your Dumpling adventure!

Digital Promotions – You may have seen that Tourism Richmond has been promoting the Dumpling Trail on social platforms to raise awareness of the Dumpling Trail and inspire people to visit. Here is an example of a post we’ve been putting out on Instagram over the last couple of weeks.

Social Contest – We’ve been running a social contest to win a $150 gift card, a Dumpling Plushie and some Tourism Richmond swag. The contest closed on 11th November with a total of over 3000 entries!

In The Media – We have been working with our PR agency to generate interest in culinary and travel media. The first press release went out on November 15^th and it’s been picked up by publications such as Do604, Castanet, and Foodgressing.com.

The Culinary Tourism Alliance has also developed a guide blog especially for the Dumpling Trail, which you can see here!

Promotional Materials- The redesigned brochure is now in circulation, with improved usability to guide you on your dumpling itinerary. We also have promotional stickers, chopsticks, napkins, tote bags and baseball hats on their way.

We are excited to see the Dumpling Trail go from strength to strength as we continue to promote and develop it in the coming months, and we encourage you to give your tastebuds a tour of their own on the Richmond Dumpling Trail!
