ALOHA HAWAIIAN GRILL

110-3900 Bayview Street, Richmond, BC

The perfect antidote to a West Coast rainy day, dive into a sunny serving of Hawaiian comfort food at this Steveston Village charmer. Choose from a tempting array of hearty, homestyle dishes such as Maui beef ribs or grilled spam with eggs on rice. And be sure to finish your feast with a bowl of shave ice––flavour options include kiwi, guava, pina colada and many more.

AFGHAN CHOPAN

1699-8260 Westminster Highway, Richmond, BC

Situated on the storefront exterior of the Richmond Public Market building, this local favourite serves an enticing menu of lovingly prepared Afghan comfort dishes. Kebabs are the mainstay, with delicious chicken, lamb and beef varieties available. Make sure you check all the combo options (lunch specials included) and save room for mantu, delicate dumplings filled with seasoned meat and topped with a flavorful sauce. If you are a dumpling lover, don’t miss the chance to explore even more delicious dumplings along the Richmond Dumpling Trail.

Anar

The menu at this highly hospitable Persian eatery incorporates intriguing echoes of Greek, Turkish and even Russian food traditions. Popular dishes include braised lamb Baghali Polo as well as chicken, walnut and pomegranate Fesenjoon, a sweet and sour Iranian stew. There are also several excellent vegetarian and vegan options plus banquet-like share platters that are perfect for special occasion feasting.

BiBo

7899 Templeton Station Road, Richmond, BC

Need a break during your bargain-hunting visit to McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Vancouver Airport? Snag a seat at one of the shopping complex’s popular eateries. We love BiBo’s wild salmon gnocchi but sharing a luscious pancetta, sausage and salami pizza is also highly recommended. Dessert? Consider nearby Hugo’s, where the Mexican-themed menu includes churros served with ice cream.

Daddy’s Grill

4020 No. 5 Road, Richmond, BC

Kebab fans should hotfoot it to this large, fancy-free local favourite that offers a simple but perfectly executed menu of flavourful wraps, skewers and hearty kebab platters. Portions are generous and everything is freshly made––we especially love their Joje Kebab dish with its marinated charbroiled chicken, fluffy basmati rice, crisp salad and special sauce. Arriving hungry is essential!

Damien’s Belgian Waffles

3891 Chatham Street, Richmond, BC

Beeline to this bright breakfast and lunch café and browse the chalkboard menu of chunky Liege-style waffles. They come in a wide array of options––including maple, caramel, banana and yuzu––with toppings such as fresh fruit, chocolate sauce, vanilla ice cream and more. You can also pick-up some frozen ones to take home––brunch at home will never be the same again.

Enter this warm, family-run restaurant and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to a sun-dappled Greek island. It’s hard to stop yourself from gorging on the warm pita bread that quickly arrives at your table, but save room for one of their classic Mediterranean comfort dishes––including moussaka, souvlaki or butter-soft roast lamb. We also love their great-value lunch specials.

Lamajoun

128-11782 River Road, Richmond, BC

This highly welcoming Armenian bakery café serves takeout treats such as sweet baklava and flaky borek pastries. But we recommend ordering a selection of shareable dishes and grabbing a table upstairs. Our favourites? The beef-packed khinkali dumplings; delicious homestyle soups; and the hearty cheese pastry ‘boat’ filled with three types of cheese and topped with an egg.

This unique import business combines a small but brilliantly curated store filled with Spanish food items––plus the chance to find a table and sample some authentic Iberian dishes in their onsite tasting room.
