
Spot Prawn Day
Join us for our biggest day of the Spot Prawn & Seafood Celebration! Enjoy activities for all ages happening between the Fisherman’s Wharf and The Gulf of Georgia Cannery.
- 👩🍳 Culinary Stage – Join local chefs to learn insider tips for preparing and cooking delicious seafood dishes. Our chef line-up will be announced soon!
- 🎸 Live Music – There will be live music throughout the day on the boardwalk including a local Sea Shanty!
- 🧒 Kids Zone – Learn about Gyotaku, the traditional Japanese method of fish printing, and try it for yourself! There will also be facepainting, an inflatable bouncy boat and live performances for the kids to enjoy.
- 🐟 Sustainability Expo – Celebrate Spot Prawn Day and World Oceans Day with the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site! From 10am–4:30pm, explore interactive booths on marine life, ocean conservation, sustainable farming, and more. Meet experts from OceanWise, Fanny Bay Oysters, and other partners, and join hands-on Gyotaku art workshops with artist Paula Nishikawara.
- 🤹 Circus Performances – Circus West will be performing throughout the day.
- 🍤 Dine About – Enjoy locally caught Spot Prawns at participating Steveston restaurants as part of this year’s Dine About event!
- 🌿 More to Explore – Learn about regenerative farming and organic fishing practices from vendors like FarmFolk CityFolk, contribute to a community paint-by-numbers mural, snap a selfie with the Spot Prawn mural by local artist Laura Kwok, and stop by the Tourism Richmond tent for games and summer inspiration.
