Dear Team Richmond,

We are excited that summer is just ahead, and Tourism Richmond is also excited that our in-person networking and social events are back! We love seeing you – our industry partners – and enjoying some time together in unique spaces in our destination.

On April 26, we partnered with Monkey 9 Brewing Co. and Lucky 9 Lanes to host the event. We welcomed over 40 stakeholders to join us for an evening of mingling with industry peers. Guests also had the chance to enjoy some fun bowling and delicious refreshments. The Spring Mix and Mingle provided the opportunity for our stakeholders to connect with both new and long-term partners. It was a lot of fun noting the competitive nature coming out in some when bowling!

Tourism Richmond is excited to host our next in-person Mix and Mingle at Lulu Island Winery on Wednesday, June 21. The evening will be filled with live music from Rocky and the Gems, delicious wine tastings, and light refreshments from Five Roads Brewing Co. and Fig and Maple Catering. Additionally, industry peers will also be able to explore the winery’s grapevine tunnel, with the opportunity to take pictures and admire it in full bloom. Meet our team and your peers from Richmond!

We have also been very active once again with Tour & Travel Trade marketing – with some excellent meetings at the recent sales show “Rendezvous Canada” in late May. Our team met with almost 90 operators, partners, and clients over a 4-day period. It was incredibly successful for the team.

Our spot prawn and seafood celebration has been blessed with some incredible weather and community support! Keep dining out and keep heading down to the docks to support those local fishermen.

We are really looking forward to welcoming guests from around the world this summer and building on the fantastic first half of 2023. In fact, according to STR data, our hotels are once again on top of most of Canada for occupancy and we expect that trend to continue through the summer.

Watch this newsletter for many new initiatives that you can share with your team and your guests over the summer – including the introduction of several alternate forms of transportation vs your car (in Richmond – think bikes and shuttle buses!).

All the best!
