CEO’S MESSAGE: OCTOBER 2022

Dear Team Richmond, 

Richmond’s tourism industry has continued to be resilient despite the ongoing challenges and uncertainties. And as the industry continues to recover, we are thrilled to have re-introduced in-person engagement through attending various showcases and conferences to represent Team Richmond. 

On September 22^nd, we brought back our first Mix and Mingle in-person event since 2019. This event allowed Tourism Richmond to reconnect with long-term and new stakeholders who have contributed to the success of tourism within our destination.  

In partnership with the Richmond Olympic Oval, attendees received VIP access to the Oval’s newly renovated Legacy Lounge and Richmond Olympic Museum. Refreshments were also provided in partnership with Lulu Island Winery, Five Roads Brewing Co, and Truffles Fine Foods. A special addition to the event included guest speaker, Evan Dunfee, race walker and Richmond resident, who shared his inspirational story of his journey of integrity to reaching an Olympic bronze medal in Tokyo 2020. 

During the Mix and Mingle, we announced the first annual Richmond EPIC Tourism Awards. The EPIC Awards were created to celebrate the people, places, experiences, and attractions that make Richmond a vibrant and welcoming place to visit.  

We encourage you to apply for one or more of the four awards, which represent each of Tourism Richmond’s values of Excellence, Passion, Integrity, and Collaboration.  Winners will be announced at our Year End Celebration occurring on November 30^th, save the date for this event!
