Congratulations Abbi!

Congratulations to Abigail (Abbi) on her well-deserved promotion to the role of Specialist, Destination Experience. Abbi embarked on her journey with Tourism Richmond in 2021 as a summer student, initially serving as a Destination Experience Representative. She later transitioned to a full-time role as the Destination Experience Coordinator, where she successfully managed Visitor Services and Industry Relations and Development. Throughout her time at Tourism Richmond, Abbi has demonstrated outstanding performance, contributing great ideas, delivering high-quality work, and consistently maintaining a positive attitude and infectious smile. Some notable highlights from her contributions include:

• Project management of the Bandwango passes.
• The launch of the Front Line Ambassador Certificate Program.
• Training and management the seasonal staff and Visitor Services Kiosk.  
• The increased engagement of our industry newsletter through her constant monitoring and tweaking of content.
• Planning and organizing various Stakeholder Mix and Mingle events.

Are there any new challenges or opportunities that you’re excited about as the Specialist, Destination Experience

As I step into the role of Specialist, Destination Experience, I am eager to lead exciting projects for 2024 and beyond. I look forward to overseeing new initiatives and maintaining collaborative efforts with stakeholders to create unforgettable experiences for both visitors and locals.

Did you receive any special training or support to prepare you for your new role? How has it helped you in your transition to Specialist?

I have been fortunate to work with an incredibly supportive team. Ceri, the Destination and Industry Development Director, initially onboarded me as a Visitor Services Representative in 2021 and guided my progression to the Coordinator role. Recently, both Ceri and Gareth (Destination Development Manager) have provided invaluable support during my transition to the Specialist position, while also granting me autonomy over the projects I oversee.

How does it feel to have achieved this milestone in your career?

I am proud and grateful for the opportunities that have led to this career milestone. The team at Tourism Richmond is one of a kind, and I look forward to working with them each day.
