Vision, Goals, and Strategic Initiatives
The Richmond Tourism Master Plan establishes a clear path for the city over the next 10 years, focusing on its evolution into a destination of choice to discover and experience. This direction is guided by the following vision, shaped through extensive community engagement:
Richmond is a dynamic Pacific gateway and a destination to be discovered.
We proudly share Richmond’s blend of cultures and cuisines, the mix of urban, cultivated, and natural landscapes, and our rhythm of coastal life across time.
This long-term vision is supported by three goals that guide the development of Richmond’s visitor economy, addressing key strengths, opportunities, and challenges while reflecting community input:
Goal 1: Enhance Connectivity and Accessibility
Create a seamlessly connected destination that prioritizes multi-modal, accessible, and sustainable transportation options, enhanced through technology and barrier-free access to attractions and experiences for both visitors and residents.
Goal 2: Elevate and Diversify Visitor Experiences
Position Richmond as a vibrant, year-round tourism hub by offering a diverse range of immersive activities that encourage longer stays and foster community pride
Goal 3: Advance Tourism Infrastructure Development
Support the development of high-quality tourism infrastructure, gathering spaces, and landmark attractions that establish Richmond as a dynamic, must-visit destination in every season
