The Taste of Place Summit, held in Markham, Ontario on May 13 and 14, was attended by Tourism Richmond CEO, Nancy Small, along with team members from our Marketing and Destination Development teams.

Hosted by the Culinary Tourism Alliance, with whom Tourism Richmond has closely collaborated on revitalizing the Dumpling Trail, the Summit provided an excellent platform to showcase Richmond as one of Canada’s premier culinary destinations and exchange best practices and innovations with industry peers.

Nancy, who also serves as a board member of the Culinary Tourism Alliance, participated in a panel discussion titled “Celebrating Cultural Diversity in a Destination”. The panel explored how food trails can elevate authentic cultural stories, foster inclusion, and create meaningful connections.

The summit also provided a chance to explore the region’s vibrant culinary scene, from vineyards and organic farms to renowned Asian food courts. With many parallels to Richmond’s own culinary strengths, it was an inspiring opportunity for our team to gather insights, spark new ideas, and reflect on how we can further elevate Richmond’s exceptional food experiences for both visitors and locals.
