This summer, Richmond will celebrate the world’s highest‑profile soccer tournament coming to Metro Vancouver. With seven games at BC Place, Richmond will welcome thousands of visitors, media, and officials, alongside hosting a packed program of community events.
Tourism Richmond is undertaking a significant marketing campaign in addition to partnering with the City of Richmond and the Richmond Hotel Association to put on a collection of community events—including one at the Richmond Olympic Oval for Canada’s first game on June 12, and the Final on July 19 (location TBC).
Tourism Richmond is also supporting Partners through destination training for front-line staff, grants for soccer themed activations, and developing a Partner event calendar.
Tourism Richmond’s Marketing Approach
The tournament will shine a global spotlight on Metro Vancouver and British Columbia. While matches will take place in Vancouver, Richmond is uniquely positioned to benefit from increased visitation and long-term destination awareness thanks to its proximity, world-class amenities, and diverse experiences.
Tourism Richmond’s marketing efforts are designed to inspire visitors who are already planning to be in Vancouver during the tournament to extend their stay and explore everything Richmond has to offer—from vibrant culinary experiences to cultural attractions and scenic outdoor spaces.
