Thousands of ravenous locals and visitors have already satisfied their appetites at this year’s hugely popular Richmond Night Market. But while its 110+ food vendors continue to draw the lion’s share of attention from hungry attendees, there’s much more to experience at this fun-tastic annual event than fusion tacos and tornado potatoes.
Curious about the rest of the market? On our second visit of the 2025 season––which runs on weekends and holiday Mondays until October 13––we sidestepped the culinary offerings and checked out some of the other attractions and activities on offer. It’s the perfect way to spend an outdoor summer evening in Metro Vancouver—and if you’re planning your first visit, be sure to read our Insider’s Guide to the Richmond Night Market for tips on what to eat, how to get there, and how to make the most of your night.
ZIP THROUGH THE FUN
New for 2025, the Richmond Night Market has introduced a high-flying zipline that gives thrill-seekers the chance to glide above the lively crowds and take in the market from a whole new perspective.
Start by heading to the end of the zipline platform to purchase your ticket. You’ll then attend a mandatory safety orientation, where staff will walk you through the rules and get you harnessed in and ready to go. Once you’re set, make your way to the launch zone near the Zoom Pass entrance to take flight.
Phones, GoPros, and other recording devices are only allowed if securely attached to your body—handheld filming isn’t permitted. If you’re unsure about your setup, please ask staff—it’s for everyone’s safety.
FUN FOR ALL AGES
Back on the ground, there’s no shortage of action—especially for families and anyone feeling a bit nostalgic. This year’s midway-style games area is packed with all the classics: toss a ring, hook a duck, or shoot a target for your chance to win a giant Labubu doll, an oversized capybara, or one of many other quirky plush prizes making the rounds this season. It’s a playful way to tap into that classic summer fair vibe, and the prize options are some of the cutest yet.
For younger visitors, a row of giant inflatable slides and bouncy castles awaits—this year featuring the biggest one ever installed at the market. There’s also a shallow pool filled with huge plastic spheres kids can climb inside to bounce and bump around in. Whether you’re bringing little ones or just want to channel your inner kid, this area is always buzzing.
SHOPPING EXTRAVAGANZA
Jewelry fans will find several sparkling stands to choose from. Earrings dominate and we spotted some adorned with unicorns, striped candies and––our favourite––cute cats in lots of different colours. There were also several popular stands selling handmade crochet creations, including teddy bear key chains and full-sized bouquets of ingeniously crafted flowers.
If you’re into collectible cuteness, keep an eye out for Labubu and Crybabies—those ever-popular figurines and hanging pendants you’ve probably seen dangling from backpacks and purses. The Richmond Night Market is one of the few places you can still find these hard-to-get toys, with several vendors offering a colourful assortment. You’ll also notice plenty of mystery blind boxes, which have become a favourite among shoppers this year for the fun and anticipation they bring.
That’s not all, of course. We also found stalls selling everything from socks to art prints, and from smartphone cases to press-on nails in countless styles. Whether you’re hunting for the perfect gift or a quirky keepsake, there’s no shortage of treasures waiting to be discovered.
ENTERTAINMENT GALORE
Included with your admission ticket, there’s always something to see. On our visit, we saw one of the market’s “living statue” performers—completely still until someone dropped a donation in their bucket, theatrical “activation.” It was certainly equal parts performance art and surprise entertainment.
But the highlight of the night is often found at the main stage, located near the market’s main entrance. Every night during the season, crowds gather to enjoy community choirs, live music, and K-pop dance crews. On our visit, local alt-rock band The Bad Decisions took the stage with a tight set and steady basslines that kept the crowd nodding along from start to finish.
PIT STOP
Although food wasn’t our focus this time, eventually we couldn’t resist the market’s culinary call. As the sky turned hues of orange and purple, we wandered the food alleys that felt straight out of a bustling Asian night market.
This year’s most photogenic dishes include flying noodles, pineapple crème brûlée, sushi tacos, sushi hot dog and skewer towers––not to mention the ever-popular foot-long super fries. We went for the sushi hot dog, a surprisingly delicious mashup of flavours and textures. Equal parts novelty and crowd-pleaser, it made for a satisfying final bite.
