1. DISCOVER LONDON FARM

A 10-minute drive from the heart of the village, this bucolic heritage attraction still feels like a hidden gem. But it’s well worth searching out––especially in summer, when its historic, admission-free farmhouse is open from Friday to Sunday. Check out the antique-lined rooms before exploring the verdant park and gardens outside. And don’t miss this year’s Family Farm Day event that takes place on August 9.

2. COOL OFF AT SCREAMERS SOFT SERVE & TREATS

It’s not summer until you’ve plunged into an ice-cold, silky-smooth Screamer from this near-legendary village vendor. A neon-bright fusion of fizzy pop slushy mixed with soft serve ice cream, there are several ice cream varieties to choose from (go for the pineapple) plus pop options including orange, cream soda and more. Need additional sustenance? Pajo’s floating fish and chippery is just a few steps away.

3. PERUSE THE GULF OF GEORGIA CANNERY NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE

With free admission for everyone until September 7 under the Canada Strong Pass program, summer 2026 is a great time to visit this celebrated village attraction. You’ll find lots of fascinating, family-friendly displays but there are also several free daily tours (don’t miss the machine demos). Added bonus: the Cannery’s over-the-water location means it’s always cool inside!

4. STROLL FISHERS WALK

One of Steveston’s newest activities, dive into the region’s colourful seafood backstory on this excellent self-guided outdoor wander. Starting at Fisherman’s Wharf, you’ll find red-hued information panels illuminating the hardworking West Coast fishing fleet, complete with fascinating facts, photos and graphics. Save time to check out the fishing boats on the floating dock, before following the trail over to Garry Point Park.

5. TAKE A BREATHER IN GARRY POINT PARK

Explore the flower-fringed trails then snag a driftwood log seat on one of the small beaches in this popular peninsula park––the perfect place to bask in the sun and enjoy glittering shoreline views. Birds are often abundant here (we’ve seen everything from kingfishers to greater yellowlegs). And it’s also a bike-friendly hotspot––if you don’t have your own wheels, you can rent from Steveston’s Village Bikes.

6. HOP ABOARD THE STEVESTON TRAM

This charming, admission-free heritage attraction on Moncton Street is a must-see for fans of yesteryear transit––especially if you’re keen to board a century-old tramcar, slide onto a comfy seat and tap into what it was like to travel around our region back in the day. Kids also love it here: there’s a dress-up corner, hands-on exhibits and an excellent playground in the adjoining park outside.

7. TIME TRAVEL AT BRITANNIA SHIPYARDS NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE

This boardwalk heritage hamlet brings to life Steveston’s salty boatbuilding and seafood industry backstory in a series of restored workers’ cottages and artefact-packed sheds. Admission is free, while colourful history tours are also offered daily until September 7 (adults $12; children aged 12 and under free). Also free is the fantastic Richmond Maritime Festival, held here on August 22 and 23.

8. BROWSE THE STEVESTON VINTAGE FAIR

Running on July 5 and 19 as well as on August 2, 16 and 30, Moncton Street’s sun-dappled Town Square Park is a delightful spot to browse curated vendors offering a nostalgic selection of yesteryear treasures. Don’t forget to stop and smell the park’s sweet-scented roses while you’re here––and consider a side-visit to the adjoining Steveston Museum and Post Office, complete with art displays and in-depth exhibits.

9. HIT THE STEVESTON FARMERS & ARTISANS MARKET

Select Sundays this summer also sees the return of this much-loved alfresco market. Bring your reusable shopping bags on July 12 and 26; August 2, 16 and 30; and September 13 to find a cornucopia of local seasonal produce that can range from peaches to blueberries and from peppers to heirloom tomatoes and much more. You’ll also find tempting fresh-baked treats plus lots of handmade artisan items.

10. BOOK A STEVESTON ALIVE! WALKING TOUR VIGNETTE

Join a costumed guide for a fascinating, step-back-in-time stroll around the village. Each walk brings to life the yesteryear community via colourful stories and real-life tales, and you’ll meet several additional local characters along the way. Tickets are just $7 each and the walks run on most Saturdays until August 15—reserve ahead, though, since they are very popular!
