This quaint fishing village at the mouth of the Fraser River was voted #1 Metro Vancouver neighbourhood out of 192 in 2020. Much of it was declared a heritage zone in 1960, which accounts the warm, old-timey vibe. But it is also a working fishing village, which makes it a seafood lover’s paradise. Take a stroll along Fishers Walk to enjoy waterfront views and learn fun fish facts along the way. Buy fresh seafood right off the dock at Steveston Spot Prawns and Seafood, or stop into a fish shop. In season (May to July), treat yourself to some spot prawns from Prawns on the Spot.
Our History
If you’re a history buff, you’re in luck. The Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site, the Steveston Tram, the Steveston Museum, and the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site will quench your thirst for knowledge.
This picturesque village has also been reinvented for many films and TV shows, including Once Upon a Time’s Storybrooke. Moncton Street is where much of the filming took place. Sip the Dark Swan Latte with dark chocolate, espresso and a hint of coconut at Village Books & Coffee House, the Henry & Emma’s Special Hot Chocolate with Cinnamon at Steveston Coffee Co, or the Once Upon a Lime martini at Catch Kitchen + Bar. If you are a huge fan, take a seat at “Granny’s Diner”, which is really Cannery Café Seafood House,
